Starter is shot on 01 where to buy online...

Hey guys, today I took the car to go shopping mall, I then came back home to get some stuff, I stop the car for the time to get my stuff then try to start the car and then first thing I ear when I turn the key is clic clic clic clic clic...

It seem that my starter is shot, I called a local parts store and they propose me a rebuilt for 70$ but the guys on the phone ( I happend to know him ) suggested that I dont buy the rebuilt saying they all come back within 90 days because there crap, anyway I want to buy a brand new one with a 1 year warranty.

What do you guy suggest ? any links ? Brand ? etc.

Thanks for helping.

AA

did you try boosting. With a series of clicks, it's usually the battery.
I'd do a battery test first.

The battery is an Optima Yellow Top D75/25, it has been on the car for 5 months. Also if I open the light or any electrical accessory it work fine so that's why I think it's the starter, anyway I have another brand new battery so I'll try to swap and see what happend.

maybe it is an alternator, use voltmeter to check how much voltage the battery puts out. If starter was shot i doubt you would hear the clicking noise.

Hey Stewart, the box is 67 x36 x 9 inches but it is only 25-30 lbs so you may want to attach it in the back trunck or on the roof of the car.

If it was the alternator the battery would be almost dead but it's not, I tried to boost it with my Murano yesterday but starter dont crank it only make that clic noise. It sound like the solenoid of the starter is shot, anyway I'm going to swap the starter today or tommorow and see what's happening.

About six week's ago my starter went out on my 00. I called around and the cheapest around was 140 for a new one ,and i took mine to get it rebuit and the guy said the part he needed to replace was around 120. So i bought one from my local junk yard for a 98 max for 30 bucks. I works great and was cheap as hell.

i replaced my starter at 110,000 miles, it was working but it had a solinoid problem. it was making a weird noise after i started the car, i got mines off of car-part.com, it's a very good site. i also got my whole quarter panel for 200 bucks- good deal.
