Sometimes my car does'nt want to start. It only happens after its been running for some time and I shut it off. It seems to me that it is not getting fuel . I have to give it anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes bvefore it will start up again.I have noticed though that it doesn't sound like the fuel pump is coming on when it happens . I dont know if that could mean that my fuel pump is going bad I hope not cause that FQer is like $300.00 dollars

 

i have had this issue since i had it brand new. it seems to only affect after short trips then trying to start the car again. i always turn the car to on and you can hear the fuel pump prime and then i crank it. that seems to help but it does happen from time to time regardless. when SR20DEN installed my fpr, he believes the check valve in the fuel pump was bad. on a recent dyno session, i saw my fuel pressure drop above 6k which signals that my pump is starting to die. there are alternatives to the nissan pump such as a walbro. i picked up a 5.0 mustang walbro 190 (larger inlet than the typical one used for maximas) for 67 shipped. i saw the nissan model go for around 80 shipped.

 

Have you measured the fuel pressure during start up? Does your engine turn over at all? Could it be the starter?

 

No I haven't checked the fuel pressure on it and yes it does spin over like its tring to crank but no fuel. Actually I just got back from lunch and it did it again. I turned the key on and off several times untill I heard the fuel pump prime up. I am guessing the fuel pump is going yeah for me . I cant tell ya how much I am looking forward to replacing that thing

 

make sure to have the parts to replaced the fuel filter which is built into the assembly if it has not been replaced yet. mine was caked with sediment at 50k miles.

 

Look up the fuel filter replacement thread and there you'll find the good how-to that includes the fuel pump removal... Half an hour job...
