Tires, Tires

Are the prices in this web site Ok. I'm looking to buy new tires for the G rims and don't want to spend a fortune on them....... I know I should have posted this one in the other forum but.........!!!!!!!!
It is also strange that this place doesn't show the 240-40-18 I need.. will call tomorrow,

I'm editing my stupidity on selecting the "240" to "235"

I don't think tires come in 0 widths. I alway thought it was in incraments of 5.

You eather need a 245-40-18 or a 235-40-18.

hah, that is also true...

Lontar, you need 235/40/18 for the G rims....that is the best size to use (and is what I use).....no such thing as a 240 width

I have 235/40/18s and they are mastercraft avenger ZHP's. They aren't loud on the road and they are pretty cheap. I think my Dad got them at lke 120 per tire or something like that. But he gets wholesale prices, but I think he said they were under 200 a tire or something. Oh yea I have the G rims too.

Proxes 4....I've been VERY happy with mine. They're very quiet, although theyve gotten a bit louder as they've worn past the 50% point....

Good ride, excellent road grip

Falken st115... This I can chime in on.

1) They are very quiet for high performance but also rated at 360(?) treadwear, they tend to wear out more like 280.
2) They have stiff sidewalls which means you feel more cracks on the road but allow you to take more aggressive cornering.
3) Cuts through puddles!
4) Excellent dry and wet traction

rockin falkens as well...512's...they have a softer sidewall but a great overall tire as far as performance v. price ($105) still plenty of fun to drive on w/ awesome traction wet or dry

If you want a good all around tire at a great price see if they make the Kumho Ecsta HP4 in your size. Have them for two years and great in rain/snow here in NJ. Forund them at Tire Rack.

Falken ZX512-V here. Terrific tires. Wet traction is just downright beautiful. They didn't break ONCE during the 11 day rain strom NY had over a month ago. I was confidently driving 60-65 on NYC's sh*tty highways all throughout the rain. Dry grip is awesome too. Oh and snow traction is pretty solid, as well.

Depends on which ones you get. Their all season tires, the ones I have, will go 50,000 miles. I have had mine now for two years (hp 4) 16,000 miles and they still look like new.

Get a 245/40/18

More tread = better. I have these with no rubbing issues.

Dunlop!! Dunlop!! They are loud as hell after about 5k don't last worth a damn, and are sticky as hell, but they grip like no other. My Dad has the Falkens and loves them. They are not the quietest tyres out their but have good grip and life. Any one else have Dunlop SP Sports?

For G/Z rims there is only ONE tire that is more recomended by the owners of those cars- AVON, TireRack sells them. I had them on my Q45 shortly and they where awesome tires. When its time to get new skins for my new wheels, I will look into AVON tires- quiet as a sin, good traction and rain tires ! But my top tire would be the new Falken Azenis ST615s they offer traction of a R-compound tire, but are DOT approved Street tires.

for Avon tyres. Very quiet with good dry/wet traction. Very happy with my purchase (from TireRack). I have not had a chance to try them out in the snow yet, but I'm sure everything is better compared to Potenzas. On a side note, they are not the most aggressive looking tread pattern, if that is your sort of thing, but the performance and price outweigh the looks imho.

Any of these tires posted here should do you well. Just do the most research you can and read as many reviews (tech and customer) as possible before buying.

the 615's are great tires (what I will be using next year for autocross) but not what I would choose for a daily driver as they're pretty noisy and not all that good in the rain....

BTW, I have had the Falken 512's.. ..a good tire and a great price. That said, the Proxes 4 compare better:

- same great wet/dry grip
- just a bit more expensive
- don't wear quite as fast
- a bit quieter
- stiffer sidewalls = better handling

I had 2 sets of 512's before my Proxes, so I know what I'm talking about
