Should I sell or install my nitrous kit?

A few weeks back I bought an nx wet nitrous kit for my 2002 6spd max, iv'e been hesitating on installing it cause i'm affraid of messing my car up, iv'e been reading alot of nitrous post plus asking different people I know their oppinion, yet I still can't decide if I should say screw it and just install it or sell it and go all motor. As of now here are the performance mods my car has, Injen short ram intake just removed the down tube and replaced it with filter, 2.5 inch custom y pipe and exaust with no cats, sprint lowering springs and 245/45/17 bf goodrich g-force tires, that's all. This past weekend I went to the track and here is what I ran- 1st run 14.598 at 97.080-2nd run 14.440 at 97.088-Final run 14.343 at 97.100, and I know I could break 14.2-14.1 . With that said do you guys think I should sell the nitrous kit and go all motor or just install it???

Do the nitrous.....start off with a 75 shot or less to be safe, and move up from there. You can further increase % of safety by picking up a bottle pressure gauge, 190 lph walboro fuel pump, 1 step colder plugs. Because it's starting to get cold, you not be using the system to it's full potential, so a bottle heater might be a good idea.

As far as hurting the engine, I ran about 4 bottles through mine, and have uninstalled it and sold it since. I'm not having any issues with my all motor currently from the nitrous used. You will be fine if you use precautions, don't spray under 3000 rpm from 3rd gear up. Don't spray past 4th unless heavily modded to get you through the rpms quickly. Don't spray under a quarter of a tank. Most importantly, don't spray into the rev limiter which an RPM Window Switch might be called for then.

Nitrous is pretty nice to have. If you sell yours how much are you asking? Is the system brand new? Is it complete? GL with your decision.

Thanx for your input, i'll keep it in mind, if i do install it thats what i was going to do is run 75 shots, and get a fuel pump spark plugs and fuel pressure regulator, but If I do sell it I would sell it for $200 the guy that had it installed it and then uninstalled it cause he was affraid of using it so it was never used, do you think that's a fair price?

That's pretty good. What's the condition? Do you have any pics? Can I get first dibs (budget upon review) for responding to you post first?

Install it, i was hesitent before ordering it, but i would never have found out if i didnt buy it so i did. I bought the zex Wet Kit. I have refilled the bottle of 6 times! I still dont have any problems or found any leaks. For me i like to play it safe, I have the pressure gauge, bottle heater, and the purger. I got 1 step colder plugs, and im just running the 55 shot jet with no upgraded fuel pump. When i do step up on the shot, i will upgrade the fuel pump as well as get a fuel pressure regulator. The 55 shot jet feels good, and haulls *** at good optimum pressure. I have the 3.0 so i can imagine how it feel with the 3.5.... I have paked 4 people in the car and used it, and it still had ballls, while all my other friends enjoyed the power with so much weight while they were sitting in the back! Install it but play it safe!

put it on and just stay low. nitrous is ok but people tend to feel the power of the low setting and then decide to increase the jets to a higher hp and thats when you get probs. If you put too much N20 & not enough fuel, you'll lean out your motor and thats when you start breaking stuff. Just stay safe like deckdout said & you'll be fine.

Sure, I hit a raised man hole, and blew my tire and bent my rim. At that time I needed money to replace it all. I just did it again so now I going to do away with these wheels and buy a new set. I'm going to get the spray back, this time it will probably be 100 - 125 shot.

I got Deckdout2's old Zex Nitrous system! Its great i put down some good numbers on the dyno with nitrous 257hp and 287tq on a VQ30. A window switch is a must!

I installed a NX wet kit on an Acura Integra I had (before my 20th AE), and it was quite a bit of fun. It can be addictive though, which means $$$ and unknown future problems.

I think the jury is still out on if it really damages your engine: you will find as many "yays" as "nays". Just make sure your engine is in great shape, and has always had regular oil changes. A compression check wouldn't be a bad idea either. How many miles are on the engine? If you have an engine with even a slight weakness, I think the nitrous will potentially make it worse faster than if you didn't have it.

Just use it sparingly, and don't go too big on the "shot" (55 or 75 would be the best). After going through a bottle or two on mine, the novelty starts to wear off (unless you're a hardcore racer), and it does become less fun over time.

All that being said, if the choice came down to installing it or selling it, I would definitely install it and have some fun!

HA! I'm glad you like it Anthony. Are you running my 75 shot jets? Any plans to upgrade?

edit: btw 257hp on a auto 3.0 is pretty good.

Paramy,

Hey! I upgraded the jets im running a 100 shot now!! although i got to watch my fuel pressure closely, so far so good but i do need to get a walbro fuel pump.. I got the zex hooked up to a window switch, fuel pressure safety switch and a WOT microswitch since i had to bypass Zex's TPS WOT system for my window switch to work right!!!

That sounds like you're on the right track. I wish I had a chance to try the 100 shot jets before I had to sell it.

so don't spray in 1st, 2nd, and 5th gears? Why not spray under quarter of a tank?

Actually what I was saying, is that you can safely spray in any rpm in 1st or 2nd, because the rpms in the powerband increases rapidly enough since you're in a lower gear. Which would have a greater chance in you not having nitrous backfire. Most say that from a dig in 1st all they get is no traction. With my 6 speed, I haven't notice that, but I also do have HSLD. It chirps all the way to redline, but hooks in the process if that makes any sense. That gear does run out quickly. I'm sure when I move up in shot, I'll probably have no use spraying out of 1st.

Spraying under a quarter of a tank is not recommended because your fuel level is that low already. What happens when the fuel sloshes around in your tank and you happen to not get enough fuel when spraying.....possible KA-BOOM. This is not the case 100% of the time, it's just another precaution to keep you from spending money to fix things that you could be spending on other mods.

These are things I choose to take into consideration because nitrous is still a very serious additive, and when used properly it can be an asset. I can't really afford to have things break on me all the time.
