Help, Please. Car is throwing CODES!!!
Hello,
First off I would like to thank everyone who reads this and offers some insight as to what the codes might mean. Yesterday, my car started throwing codes when I came home from work. My car now has 73K miles on the 2K3.
When I went to Autozone to have them pull the codes, them came back with the following:
* P0455 - Defective or loose gas cap (I checked to make sure my gas cap was on, and it was on tight); evap canister or hose cracked or not connected; purge or vent solenoid defective; vacuum leak
* P1448 - Evap canister vent control valve
Now just to let everyone know, my car is running fine. The only thing that I have noticed over the past month, is right between 2700-3200 rpms, sometimes my car feels that it has less pull down low and will often require to downshift to get the power I need (often mildly aggresive driving
.
Any ideas on what this could be? It doesn't sound like the typical maf issues, but maybe it's on it's way?

EVAP canister vent shut valve is gone bad- most likely stuck open and its letting the EVAP vapors out of the canister when its not supposed to. EVAP system collects gasoline vapors that form inside the gas tank and at given times it opens up the valves- aka solenoids and lets those vapors into the engine where they can be burned. Purpose of this system is to keep our air clean, if you ever opened a gas cap on a older car on a hot day you would get a wooosh sound of all the gases that have escaped the gas tank into our atmosphere. If you get a wooosh sound on a 97-up car- its because of the vacuum inside the gas tank which you just depleted. Gasoline vapors are harmfull and dangerous especially around fire- very violatile.
Repleace the canister vent shut/control valve, its a common item that goes bad on Nissans and Hondas.

BlackBird,
You always seem to come through. I noticed this morning when I went to fill up my car, it definitely made a whoosh sound. Do you know the exact part I would need any any writeups on how to do it? Or do you think I should let the Nissan dealership do it?
One other thing, it doesn't sound like it would negatively affect my car if I drive like this will it until I am able to get it fixed. What do you think?
