JUST ordered tein SS coilovers for $1030 shipped...I know how to look for a bargain

I'll let everyone know my impressions later. But I did lots of research before buying these...these seem like 2nd best (after JICs a2) when it comes to comfort. Comfort is my main goal here...handling is 2nd

I've been a proud owner of Tein SS coilover suspension for about 4 years and going on 47k miles on them...Only for the last year that my suspension just gone to S##t. The've lasted me a long time..Longer than any other suspension. My question now is what is a good coilover system...i'm looking to spend around $700-$800. I guess price and ride quality is what i'm looking for.

The only reason i'm not buying another set of Teins is that there is only height and damper adjustment...no adjustable body allowing maximum suspension travel. On the teins, any drop lower than 2inches, you get a hard ride. For anyone living in Northern NJ, you know the roads suck here.

Has anyone heard of NEX coilovers i've been reading up on them and they sound great but i haven't heard of any satisfied customers here on .org

Tein SS's here.

After coming off of D2's I could've had some little midgets in there with sticks and it would've been better.

The Teins by far are the best set up I've been on. Especially with me being this low. Then again I live in Florida so I can actually ride this low with no issues. Well aside from cv issues.

Like my man said... the D2's were a harsh ride. Not to mention that all the parts were turning to ****. Couldn't keep a spring isolator from tearing for more then a month. They were a ****in mess.

Another down side is how you lower and raise the car with D2's. They've got the allen bolt going through instead of a nut and bolt. After awhile they start to corrode and that's even with liberal greasing. They seized up and that was that. I took forever and a year to get them broke loose. GARBAGE.

Never eva... eva, eva. Going with D2's. If I get of these Tein SS's it'll be to JIC A2's.

I've read about them too before I got the SS's. Not sure about them since I've only read about them. I was also looking at the Megans.

Black Killa was dropped about 22" from the center of the fender to the ground all the way around on 19's. I'm about 24" on 20's

Brand of coilovers: Tein SS

Miles i've been running on them: 50 (lol)

How much you paid: $1030 shipped

Any run-ins you had with installation: I believe tein is the only coilover which uses all stock parts and it caused me and my buddy to screw up the install. We had the fronts installed fine but the rears would shoot right out of the upper mount. We looked over the instructions and we forgot to install the OEM plates on both sides. So yea...it was fine after that

Any problems with the coilovers on your car: They have only been on for 50 or so miles

Positive change you noticed the most: COMFORT!!! Handling is about the same as my htech/illumina combo. But the comfort the tein SS provides is amazing..10x better than my htech/illumina combo

Any other notes you would like to add about the coilovers you HAVE ON YOUR CAR:

Only time will tell how long these will hold up but I did TONS of research and I heard nothing but positive things about these coilovers. Im not going for the "slammed" look. I have a 1 finger (its real tight though) gap all around. I believe you need to pay to play and with that said, Im sure these coilovers will provide me years of happiness. I should also say I got these with comfort in mind, not handling. Its a stock-like ride if not better.

I have them set at 8front/11rear

And a pic:

Tein SS Coilover review 5th gen

Brand of coilovers: Tein SS

Miles i've been running on them: 5,000

How much you paid: $1100 (used)

Any run-ins you had with installation: Have to swap OEM bearing and mounts over, Normal for this coilover. No issues, perfect fitment and install

Any problems with the coilovers on your car: 0 Issues

Positive change you noticed the most: Ride Quality when lowered, followed closely by drastically better handling

Any other notes you would like to add about the coilovers you HAVE ON YOUR CAR:

These coilovers are incredible. I didn't truly believe all the reviews from people saying they're "as good or better" in comfort/ride than stock. Well believe me, they are. I drove my car for a while, then put these on, then drove the same route. My mouth was open the whole way. They're AS SMOOTH AS STOCK, only better, less bouncy, more control, etc, etc. And much less body roll.

It doesn't matter where my ride height is on these they ride smooth as heck even slammed. You will NOT regret these coilovers their reputation speaks for itself.
