<$20 and fun with homelink

ive never read about anyone doing this, if soemone has, than im sorry for the repost.

i decided to do a lil experimenting.

i have one of those outlets with a remote dealies. u can get them at any hardware store, basicly its just a box that u just plug it into the wall and plug a device into it, have the device set to on, and the remote has an on and off. pretty basic.

well since i still have two buttons unused on my homelink, i decided to see if these would work, yes they do. one for on, one for off.

now u can use ur homelink to control just about anything, my parents have those ligth up deer in the front yard for the holidays, ill prob just have mine turn them on and off. but i guess soem people could actually use this for soemthing usefull. thats all.

set up each button on the remote to a seperate button on the homelink. i can scan my homelink inctructions if u need them. most devices use two buttons. ive noticed, i have one and my dad has the same model, theyre cheap and they both work on the same frequency, so i guess in theory u could control several different outlets.

I'm thinking I'll have to set it up on my TV so I can hit the button and have my A/V ready to go by the time I hit the door to the house. Now, if I can just find some way to get it to turn my wife on with a push of the button....

Thats a great idea never thought of that. I don't use my home link for anything and it drives me nuts having useless buttons.

did you have to erase any previously programmed buttons in order for it to recognize the new module?
