Maxima vs. Type R????
Well, I know honda's and the Type R, if launched right can go from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and run the 1/4 in 14.7, considerably faster than the maxima se's specs...It would depend on the driver because the R has the mechanical edge. I would like to hear some results though.
Where did you get those specs from? The ones I saw...The official ones were 7 sec run to 60 and I think a 15.4 1/4(it did not display if it was an auto or not, but i would like to see the source of your figures). Tenths of seconds are a big deal when it somes to automobile racing, just like running.

Driver Skill...Driver Skill....Driver Skill....
My BONE STOCK 00' Maxima GXE 5-speed ran consistent 14.90's @ 94 mph last week @ the NIRA event...
Unfortunately...most of the Type R owners can't drive themselves out of a paper bag...
I've seen stock Type R's run anywhere from 14.80-16.30 depending on the driver...
Due to the ITR's COMPLETE LACK OF TORQUE...a bad launch equals HORRIBLE E.T. whereas w/ the Maxima a bad launch isn't as bad...
That's my $.02.

PS: Motor Trend IS NOT THE BIBLE!
Since my car went over 2/10ths quicker than MT all stock...
I'd say that the 6.7 0-60 they quote for the 5spd Max is due to a less than optimal launch...my guesstimate...probably closer to 6.4-6.5 sec.
