Very innovative. I'm on the fence as far as the look, but I'm sure it's better than stock as far as heat retention goes...

That's a nice looking mod. Why was the heat an issue though? What does the cooler cover do for the car other make it look custom? Just curious...

Ok, I guess it's time to lay this project to rest finally. I didn't want to start a new thread, when I've already got this one going. Sorry to keep you guys waiting. Along with waiting for my emblem to come in and life being in the way I found some time to pickup some mesh and finish this up. I will have more pics of it on the car when it is daylight. Hopefully that will be in a few days.

I think it came out better than I expected, but I'll let you guys decide the verdict on that one. I took my sweet time on this cause it was for myself, and I knew it wasn't going anywhere. For me to do this for others, I'd have to consider if it's worth it seeing how much time it took to do. At anyrate, I'll stop talking and let you guys see it for yourself. Can't wait to get pics of it on the car.

Ok, no more pics tonight. Took about 5 mins to take cover off, take pics, and host them. You guys will have to wait till daylight.

It looks great, kudos for the good work....

but heat dissapation and a plastic EC holding in heat? The heat is still incubating underneath the hood insulation

Just install a 350z IM... then you'll have an excuse to chop up the hood for vents

Hey that looks real good. Not sure about how functional it is, but hey, who cares, it looks good. I like the wire mesh it needed that. How about the same idea, but putting a gill type design. I'll give a better example. Like the vents in your house for the AC, and heat. This way when looking at it straight on it looks solid, but heat will come out the vent just the same. You could in fact do a number of designs with this.

That's a good idea, but that grill would have to be very flexible, to be flush with the curvature of the engine cover. I had a hell of a time getting the mesh to stay put without using zipties when I was epoxying (sp) it on.

Came out great, I really really like it, even more now that it has the mesh on it. I also noticed that you got a K&N filter to instead of OEM huh??

Thanks for all the kind words, it makes all the work worth while!

makavelisk - It's actually just a plain ole Proline Filter. That airbox might change here before too long. Just have to do some additional testing.

Various tools.

These two were not as effective.

Drill - Different Bits
Saw Blade - Didn't last too long

These two worked the best, and should have been the only tools used.

Dremel - Assortment of attachments required to shape, form, and smooth.
Sand Paper - Different grits

Again great job, and now all you need to do is make a mold of the one you have, and make one out of carbon fiber.

It's nice to have one of your old threads bumped knowing it served a purpose here. Thanks for that Josh

O, and I'll take the credit since I sweat over this ish making it.

Stay tuned, within the next month or so, I'm releasing another look/design that will be going in. More detail and time have been put into this one.

Glad you're still enjoying it Jason!
