Keep that Hinny Warm

Has anyone installed after market heated seats in a 5.5gen? What are good companies or places to get these after market heating elements? are all 5.5 gens pre wired with the heated seat element wires even if the car did not have that option? (so i can hook up aftermarket heated seat elements to my stock wireing?)
Thanks for the help guys.
Jim

It'd take a little bit of work, nothing I wouldn't be more than happy to help you with.

Are you seriouse metal or are u just pullin my chain? i wouldnt know why my ca wouldnt be wired for the heated seats even if it didnt come with that option? i think it would be more cost efficient to wire the car for all the options and when the buyer chooses that option, it just has to be plugged in.

No problem, man. For a nominal fee, I can install it.

Check your PM box.

Bugbite...I have the heating elements for this type of project, and the factory Nissan heat switches. Hit me up if you want to give me an offer.

Bugbite, I can knock some money off of the installtion price if you went this route, as I would not need aftermarket switches.

He is selling it on e-bay for cheaper, that price is for only one seat and since we have split seats, we could only use that element to heat the butt or back
(ive done some research)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Heate...QQcmdZViewItem
so in order to heat the butt and back on both seats it would cost $480 through the website or $320 on e-bay

I've got one set of heating elements from a Maxima I was going to try and install in my I30. It's from the passenger side, though I don't think that matters which side it gets installed on. I'd let it go for $40 shipped if this is of interest.

Side does not matter. They are the same for both sides.

According to that website, the following snippet

Included in each Seat Heater Kit:
  • 2 heater elements (3 different sizes available)
  • 1 round dual temp hi/low/off switch
  • 1 wiring harness
  • 12 zap straps
  • 10 adhesive strips
  • 2 year warranty or 30,000 miles which ever comes first
  • All necessary fuses, thermostats, and relays
  • Instruction Manual
  • One very happy customer
Also if you click on one of the four listed items, it says that the 12 X 21 sized elements can be cut down to appropriate size. This means you get two elements per "package".

Not sure why you would need 480 dollars worth for the front seats.

Wait... Why would they send two switches with a kit that is for one seat? There should be two elements per seat, and one switch.

I think you guys are reading into this wrong. I believe that the element can be trimmed to whatever size is neccesary, however, if you cut a piece off then it renders that piece scrap. You will be trimming a piece of the end off. With no wire supplied to the cut off side there is no way to power it up. And I do believe that the kit only comes with one switch and one set of wires and one element in the $100 package.

Anyone know if this kit is worth it's weight? Wouldn't be a bad idea to integrate with factory switches.

Obviously I'm not the manufacturer, so I'm not 110% but I would put my money on it that this is how they come.

I skimmed through the site a little because I was considering doing this for my rear seats and for my Passat's rears too. Its $100 shipped per seat kit (with 2 elements per kit, one for back one for butt).

Another good for those of ya looking to do this would be to take a look at the installation instructions before buying it to make sure it'll work for you and that you know what you're getting into.

I'm confident the potential installer knows what he's doing.

As long as the seats aren't blue and white

Seriously, I may have questions for ya if I attempt this, but it looks straightforward enough. I just need to find the time.

Thanks. I'm still shopping around for the heating kit, and will hopefully decide if I wanna attempt this soon.
