Rear Defroster Question

I never noticed this issue until I recently got the Compustar 2 way alarm/remote starter installed. I leave the heat full blast on my windshield at night so in the morning any ice or snow on the windshield is melted, but you can't do this with the rear window because every time the car is turned off the rear defroster is deactivated. I'm not very electronically inclined, but I figured somebody here may know if there is a way to make it so the defroster will stay on once the car is started again. I'm not sure why this even happens if anybody can enlighten me on that as well. Thanks guys.

Often this is an option for the remote starter. Some have to be programmed by the installer. They hit me an extra $50 to program it. Channels are not available. It's worth every penny. Not having all the windows clear defeats the purpose of have the remote starter...

Thank you for your responses. I just called the place that installed my system and they said no problem they can do it. I asked how much and the guy said between $25 and $50 depending on how long it takes him so I might bring it back there at some point if I feel the need to really have that option.
