Front stabilizer bar removal on 5th gens?

This question has not been answered yet. The only questions have been about stabilizer bar bushings.

I was just wondering how I can remove and replace my bent front stabilizer bar with a new one.

The problem is that apparently the hole is too small for bar removal, I tried to sqeeze it out to no avail. There is the steering cylinder thingy and the steering shafts that are in the way.

Maybe I have to take off both front subframes? That would suck.

Thanks org.

...I still want to take corners like a champ... But more careful of course.

We had to drop the front subframe crossmember on mine when we removed my 4th gen one. Wasn't a big deal once the engine/tranny is supported.

From: Auburn WA,
I've been reading your other thread about your suspention damage and was wondering then and now about this. How did you bend the stabalizer bar? Are you sure you did? It's like a giant spring, same idea as torsen bars kinda. Not trying to argue or anything but throughout the probly 1000 suspention rebuilds I have done I've never had to replace one.

Sorry I didn't answe your question but just hoping to maby save you a little bit of time and money.

Thanks though, but how it happened, imagine yourself standing in front of my driver side front wheel. The bottom right of the wheel got hit, the control arm was mashed in the right side, where it mounts to the stabilizer bar. At least thats what I think happened, it didn't hit the wheel square on the bottom, kinda at an angle, I think that's why.

I put a brand new OEM bar under the "bent" bar and compared it to both sides (driver and passenger) the passenger side looks exactly the same, the driver side is slightly bent. Now my concern is that it will effect my handling, but the darn thing is mounted by "pivotable" bolts so I don't think it does TOO much.

But thanks nonetheless.

From: Auburn WA,
I don't think it should cause any handling problems. Good luck with the repair though, hope everything comes out good...
