I'm buying a out of 60 MO corrossion warranty. Small surface rust on inner lip (By the tire) of rear quarter panel. It looks like chipped paint with accumulated oxidation and small rust spots. Could easily be sanded and repainted. I am 2 months out of 60 mo warranty and its apparent these have been deleloping over the last 4-5 months. Would they go 1/2??? Maybe $100 each or something.

What??? You're buying a 60 month corrosion warranty? But you're 2 months out of your 60 month warranty?

I dunno, but these newbies get more and more confusing.....

The factory warranty is 60 month. Sell date is 10/00 (2 months out). I've heard excellent things about nissan service and was wondering if it was obvious this it is a preexisting condition would they do the work and pay for 1/2?
Hope this clears things up

You've heard excellent things about Nissan service??? If you say so....I would call Nissan Consumer Affairs and see what they say. You'll get opinions and stuff on here since we don't make those kinds of decisions. Good luck.

I'm so glad I dont have to deal with Nissan service. I've tried going to Nissan (instead of Infiniti), to get parts before, and they are usually terrible.

One dealer I've had a pretty good experience at was Mossy in San Diego. They have always been pretty helpful, but they still would not give me a loaner when I brought in my dad's Titan for him I had to drive some POS rental (that I ended up getting charged for because they took too long). Dont you know I require a G35 biches!!!

I guess I need to be a little more clear. I don't need warranty service on paint. The inner inside lip of the rear quarter panel where the tire is located has minor surface rust. (I am ****, especially with such a nice car.) It is likely due to rock or road coming off the tire and chipping the paint causing the surface rust. It isn't anything terrible, but would like to get it fixed before it spreads. I could easily take 40 grit sandpaper to start and sand it smooth and have it primered and touched up with paint and clear. But I figured I would ask first if anyone has delt with a BARELY out of warranty problem (expired 2 months ago) (Still within mileage @ 58,000) which you can clearly tell by looking at the condition is more than 2 months old and started occurring before warranty expired. I know legally they aren't bound by any laws, and wouldn't have to fix it....I guess by looking at the posts on this thread, I would be wasting my time even trying. I know the local Nissan Shop would be more than willling to help. (They where always more than happy to help with my GMC Denali, and it's a supercenter so it's the same place.) But if Nissan's corporate policy is to not pay the local shop for the repair, then they would have no choice but to tell me they couldn't do anything.

Didn't know it was so damn confusing, guess I'll just take the car to Nissan and see if they are willing to do anything. Otherwise a few hours of prep work and $100 dollars and I'll do it myself.......BTW.(BTW means-By the way, don't want to confuse anyone. ) Sell date is 10/00 according to carfax. Manufacture date is 5/00.

I can almost guarantee Nissan would not cover this under their corrosion warranty even if you were well within 60K. The main reason is that the warranty covers strictly factory defects. That's it. It's like me trying to get Nissan to cover repainting my car because of rock chips on the car causing rust spots or something. These chips were not caused by factory defects but because of external factors like rocks.

unless the metal is completely rusted through, they will not cover surface rust (tried already)
