I am getting a similar clunk when going over bumps but mine is coming from the left side(drivers side). It doesn matter if its a speed bump or bumpy road if it hits hard enough it makes a noise.

I found my clunk/rattle to be an internal problem with the strut. my experience is noted in the above thread.

Problem solved

In my case, it was also the passenger side strut. Yesterday, I had a set of Illumina's installed (Thanks vsamoylov!!). Took it for a test drive yesterday and drove it in to work today. Paid special attention to the areas on the road where the sound would normally be made. No noise at all. It'll be a little while before the springs settle and I also got a new set of tires. But so far, I'm a friggin' happy camper.

Also, the ride is SO much more better with the Illumina's. I'm used to a more solid feel (a la Evolution 8 stock suspension or Buddy Club coilovers on my S2000) but this setup is more than acceptable than the stock, over 115,000 mile shocks and struts. I have it adjusted to 5 up front and 4 in the back.

holy old post. i found my problem for real this time. the blehmCo stage1 ltb nuts had come slightly loose, and were creaking on the control arms. after re-tightening them, this noise is gone.

So I guess nobody for sure knows what the exact proablem is?
I hear anything from motor mounts to sway bar end links to bad struts..??????

My max is driving me crazy with this damn clunking front end!!!!!!!!!!
Its doing the same thing as other people said uneven bumps=clunking like something is loose, but the car handles fine and its still a pretty soft ride so I ruled out the struts?

What should I start replacing first , sway bar bushings, strut bearing assembly, motor mounts????????????

Any help would be awsome thanks.
