I know it has been asked before if a manual tranny can be swapped into the 5.5gens and the answer is basically no (well technically yes but for way too much money). Anyway I want to occasionally race my car but I have an 02 with an auto tranny.. which is a no go. If I could manually shift my auto tranny and get a 5th gear I think it would help the car a ton though, so I was wondering has anyone thought of trying to swap the 5.5gens auto tranny with a 04-05 altima auto tranny or a 6th gen auto tranny?

 

would bolt up and thats it...everything else is wiring, the 5spd AT is a completely different design, it would be worse to try the 5spd AT vs 6spd manual.

 

Whats wrong with an 02 and an auto tranny? Mine ran a 13.3 N/A and a 12.2 on a 70 shot of spray. Don't know of MANY 5 or 6 spds that can do that.

 

I know I could drag race with it. I am talking about autoX or road racing.
