Any word on aftermarket plenums for our cars?

I heard there were some people trying to use a 350z aftermarket plenum but werent sure if it would fit under the hood. Is there anyone trying to talk a manufacturer into making one for our car. I think this is something we should start workin on asap because depending on your mods already this one mod could add as much as 20-30 whp.

It flows well but not good enough. Even with the power valve removed you can see the peak point

Most maxima peeps won't spend good money for a coilover system, let alone any sort of aftermarket intake manifold or plenum spacer. For example, the new 350z manifold made by SSR is about $1000 (IIRC). Just sit tight for one made on the altima platform and utilize the design.

You basically disable your variable intake for top end power in expense of low-mid range hp/tq. The power valve is inside the IM and is actuated via a vaccuum solenoid.

Its been discussed and done by quite a few people on the org

I don't see a point of disabling VIAS. With variable intake you get the best of both world (peak hp and low end torque) By disabling this system all you gain is a very little increase of power between 4.5k and 5k rpm but lose low end torque.

Maybe contact them and get this started, or just buy a g35.

Yes... First SSR, then Crawford, now Kinetix. The first 2 bailed, the latter can be found here---> http://www.forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=444750

. The spacer wont do any good for our cars. And some can do/gain more or the same with 1000$ than that IM can provide. But the majority of Z33 owners have more $$ than brains... Most, not all.

Our market is very small.. Alti/Maxi/Murano ... but your is even smaller (00-01) Highly unlikely for either of us, with you having much less of a chance.

I've seen very nice top end gains (200fwhp+)

VIAS is already open over 5k rpm. Disabling the system will not increase top end power.

in a 5.5 I think VIAS kicks in at 4100RPMS....so you have that extra power all the way to redline..right? why would u want to disable that to gain extra power for 500 rpms?

Removing the actual rod opens up high end power even more than a 'normnal' VIAS operating, but again, there is a slight loss of low end.

You are removing a significant portion of the intake manifold when you remove the power valve.

Dynos have proven that the top end is superior in comparison to a working power valve. Ask Jclaw, Sr20den, Tilleys99, etc

yea but them I would want cams to take advantage of extra air and adjust the power curve!!!

So then get cams too.

IMs can shift the powerband just the way cams do.
