Best Navigation Unit ( If money is not the issue)

I am confused about getting a Navi in my Max. Which one is the best out there ? Eclipse AVN5495/AVN5435 or the new AVN7000? Or how does the Pioneer compares to it ? Please advise as I need to buy this asap. Thank you.
-Sal

Also, someone reffered here in other thread that if going with Eclipse, one should contact Don. Who is don and what's his contact # ? and what he do ?

I'd go with the AVN5495 if it was in my budget.

Pioneer has a good reputation, it's been one of the best companies for a while now, and I think Eclipse just appeared. I have AVIC-N1 and it's just great. I think it's better then eclipse.

That's what I thought too, but from talking with people with more audio experience, Eclipse is the best out there as far as quality and warranty. The standard warranty on an Eclipse unit purchased from an authorized dealer is 3 years for hardware PLUS theft protection. Don quoted me about $1500 for the AVN 5435. It's too bad I got an AVIC-D1 for Christmas which will be installed in my car before the end of the month.

eclipse just appeared? my good sir, eclipse has been around for quite some time. IMO, they make the sickest HU's out there, with all the best features. Sure, the others have the snazzle dazzle, but when ti comes to hardcore components (sound quality, sound adjustment, sound staging) and security procedures, eclipse hands down. i have an 8022 for 3 years now and i still love it to this very day. the pictures quality is the best, period. no touchscreen, as this was when dvd HU's first came out, but i wouldn't think twice about dropping money on eclipse. reason you prolly never heard of them is because they've been around forever in japan. in the states, i can't say i heard from them anytime before 7 years ago. but that's still a long time.

their latest one is a really SICK SICK hu that shows different screens depending on what angle your viewing it. a driver would see navigation while the passenger is watching a movie, on the same screen at the same time. sickness man.......sickness.

That is pretty sick. I'm looking into the Kenwood DDX-7017 now. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

that new eclipse with the different views is SICK! i just got an alpine IVA D310 which is an amazing unit...but it doesnt have navigation built in...its gonna cost you about another $1700 for the nav unit and the disc but i got a chance to play around with the alpine navigation and IMO it is THE BEST navigation system available hands down..it blows everything away..the only catch is with the nav and the actual head unit its gonna run you around $3500 installed and after tax...which is extremely pricey...but the only reason i posted this up it because you said if price isnt an issue...do some research on this unit...it was won many awards...Alpine came through with an amazing product...im not saying anything bad about eclipse tho...its better then pioneer i think..so all in all i would say alpine...then eclipse.

Mods please move it to Audio/Electronics section as apparently I did not get the answer of my question thoroughly so far. Anybody know's anything about the AVN7000? I am leaning towards Eclipse AVN5495

A sales rep from Tweeder's told me the pioneer avic can not play DVD from the box, although it does have DVD ROM for the navi. Therefore, you'd need to buy the DVD package/hardware to watch movies. I never knew this, but is this entirely true?

if i'm not mistaken, navi runs off the hard drive. i need to find the article that mentions that by running off the HD, there is no delay from having it read the dvd. it just reads right off the HD at a quick speed. if/when i find the article, i'll send it.

so to answer....yes. movie in dvd player and navi off HD.
