from my experience, with my car theres no way to shift this car smoothly from a stand still. but shift point after 1st gear is always redline for me!!

i just got my new max about a week and half ago (SE 5spd) i always shift at 3000 rpm. thats usually 20 mph from 1st to 2nd. the manual says to shift at 13mph, to 3rd at 23mph, to 4th gear at 33mph, then to 5th at 39mph. thats what the books says, i always go at 3grand at 20 mph

For most normal driving, shifting between 3 - 4000 RPM (in any gear) is fine. If you need more power/acceleration (or just love to hear it growl), then feel free to let it rev up a bit.

D@mn straight! I especially like the 3rd to 4th upshift...nice rush of normally aspirated power!

redline it in first and every gear after shift 500-600 rpms before redine to fully utilize your hp and torque curves.

I usually shift between 1st and 2nd at 3500. I guess I'm a newer stick driver, cause it's still kinda jerky, i dunno...

i usually always shift at 3000, i tried going to 3500, but it felt the same, no more power at 3500 (im sure there is a LITTLE more though) but i shift at 3000, unless i race someone where i dont shift smooth and it goes all over the place, 3000, 4000, sometimes jumps to 5000 for a split second =T

i have one more question...sorry for too many..
i feel like there's no power (just engine sound) at up to 3500rpm...at 1st gear..
what whould be the best 1st to 2nd shift for maxima when i race with someone?
i usually shift at 3000rpm too...but feel like this is too slow to race....

Damn right 3k is too low to race! If you are racing you should almost redline every gear. Of course every car has it's best shift point based on gear ratios/torque slopes/max hp rpm, but a simple rule of thumb is shift at just about redline. If you get too close to redline you might hit it and run the limiter.

As far as normal driving? You will get the feel for it as you drive it more. There will never be a consistent rpm you will shift at because you will always be doing something different depending if you are accelerating or decelerating or whatever.

Now that you own a 5-speed you will someday learn heal and toe, matching your revs in downshift and all that fun race stuff.

not in a 5th gen.
redline...every gear...when racing of course.

4th gens are better off shifting earlier...
5th gens make power up top...shift @ redline.
