what should be my next mod?

hey guys, i got some money from not eating lunch in school and saving up for my maxima hahah, i sound so dumb lol
but i got some money saved up, and i was thinking about those leather seats that i asked you about on the previous thread, but i say no to them.
so here are some choices of choices:
-- HID kit, ( i just got done with AE headlight conversion, and i think that HIDs would look good. How may K temperature should i go with? should i get ones from ebay or not?
-- CF or paintable eyelids, clear corner lights front/rear, 02-03 maxima taillights, AE pedals (all that at the same time)
-- Carbon fiber or aluminum dash kit
-- Tokic illumins struts (which i'll have to get more money for , no lunch lol) and than maybe some good springs .... .btw my car has stock struts/springs
-- maybe greddy exhaust, if i dont put my OEM one back on,
-- thats what i have in mind rite now, if you guys have some other ideas, let me know, and the money range is $150-$250
but i'll be able to get more if we there is an item that coast more and that is worth buying.

thank you huso

left AE headlights almost done......... maybe 30 more min. of work cant wait.....

well, we can't just tell you what to buy... first, choose which direction you want to go (handling, power, looks, comfort) and than spend all your money on the mods towards what's more important to you. Otherwise, you'll spend the money but not feel the difference.

for 250 ud just barely get a hid kit. out fo ur list thats the best imo. id get them from umnitza, (spl) i did the ebay route.i wont again.

id make sure everything is perfect b4 moding. tires, brakes, things like that.

also might as well see if ur vais is working, if not get some jb weld and get ur 30hp back

if i were u, which im not but anyway. id save. u never know when coils or wheel bearing will go bad. id keep 100 just sitting around for maf replacement. my 5th one is on its way.

I'd do springs. The stock springs are terrible (big wheel gap). Get some used ones for cheap. The stock exhaust isn't too bad or the tails, I'd just do the drop for now (mild drop with stock struts) until later on when you have more $$.

as a little older than most on this org., I'm starting to realize that putting money into something that doesn't INCREASE the value of something I mightnot keep, (and i stress might) is throwing money away. Think of the investment since a whole lot of us are still paying for this. I would suggest the INTERIOR KIT, its nicely recognizable for most people, not how much faster your max is compared to someone elses. Hope u feel me on that!

For power: save a little bit more and get a y-pipe.
For looks: HIDs

BTW: get your timing advanced to 17, it'll make a noticeable difference and should not cost you more than $40 cash.

I'm not sure if it's just me... but I had my plugs replaced... belt replaced... and I had the timing advanced... felt no difference at all. Not even better mileage.

It's usually better when air/fuel mixture ignites a little earlier. Our stock timing is set to 15 degrees before top dead center. Nissan tech could set it to 17 if you give him some cash The only drawback is that you'll have to use premium fuel. It's been discussed alot so you can do some research and find out the details.

this might help you understand it a bit better: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine1.htm

2k SE seem to be more popular. Even people with 5.5 gen install 2k SE lights.

Which tails you like better is all in the eye of the beholder...
If you like the tails better than yours and he's offering a straight up trade then do it. If you don't like them more don't....

I have a set of 00 GLE tails I'll trade you + $50...It'll get you that much closer to the y-pipe.

Hey shift_2K if you do a mild drop with Eibach's or H&R's you should be OK running stock struts. I put Eibach springs on the front only and left everything else totally stock just to get rid of the ugly front wheel gap. As for the 02/03 tails... do it! Thats an awesome deal. The clear tails look better on the silver colored Maximas. Usually white Max's look god with any year 5th gen tails, light colored Max's like ours look better with clear tails and darker or black Max's look really good with dark tails. Just my opinion. HTH

I'm using maxspeed springs and stock struts right now. I'll eventually get a set of blues when I blow mine, but they haven't gone so far. Dropping the ride a little hasn't effected any of my reliability and isn't really noticable except that the car looks a little better. I wasn't going for the slammed look, just what it should have looked like stock. Sorry, no pix right now.

shift_2kmaxima... that was me w/ the taillights...and I wasn't necessarily offering, I was merely gauging interest.

The 5th gen maxima's are a helluva good car performance wise for a high school / college student so take that into consideration when you're looking into future mods. Most kids on campus here do cosmetic mods (lighting, tints, etc.) just to look different than stock.

I had my '95 SE from when I was 15 - 20 yrs old and I still regret how much money I put into it.

Put it this way -- the current max you have probably will not be your LAST car, and there's plenty of cheap mods that you can get a lot of satisfaction out of. I plan on dynamating my rear deck and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Just a thought

lol i love my maxima, i dont think i'll be getting another car any soon, maybe when i get done with collage or something, but other than that iam saying no to maxima, i just dont like it that its AT, but who cares i still love the car. and if I was getting anothe car it would still be another maxima, most likely 5.5 gen or 6th gen. But for now I'll keep on working on this maxima,
thx

If,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

If you want some more power, then what about a 17 degree timing change?
I dont know too much about it, but i'm sure you'll find something on this site!

I don't think changing to 17 degree timing helps with the power, I recall reading a thread that said it made the engine run smoother, but didn't really give it more power.

You should check out the Good Deals thread in the classified section, some good HID deals on there with good discussions about them.

I would recommend a nice drop is the first thing that needs to be done. Get some good lowering springs and shocks.

Iron Scimitar could probably advise you on this better, but I would go with an HID kit made by Phillips, Hella or Sylvania. Remember you get what you pay for when it comes to HID, I found that out first hand. Another thing to remember about no-name "JDM" kits on ebay, they suck major ***. I now have a 6000K Phillips Ultinon kit with the Super slim ballasts. It ran me about 450.00. Good luck anyhow.

First of all what do you have? You and i seem about the same age me being 19 and right now i really don't care to much in comfort. For me it's like 70% performance, 20% looks and 10% comfort. I'll say i regret owering my max with eibachs/illumina's but i would much rather have it handle the way it does now as compared to stock (ugh so much body roll) believe me it's horrible. I have not done much this is what i have so far to help you out.
