my auto ---> manual progress

this 5 spd conversion has been hell...!!!!

Missing parts, waiting for parts, Breaking the SHIFT LINKEAGE, companies sending wrong pedals.... it's been a rough 2 weeks.. but i'm almost done! The manual tranny is mounted, got new pedals, and shift linkeage today. Jjust need to wire things together, put up the clutch pedal, bleed the clutch, and i'm almost done. if i had all the parts ready... it would've been done in 2-3 days! argh! ooo well...

Here are some picture of the beginning to present...

check out that shift linkeage.. if was bent 90* and i had to torch it to bend it back and reinforce it with a steel rod.. but i decided to just get a new shift linkeage.

Very nice pics A33. I too will be doing a 5 speed swap, but I think I'am going to wait until I see how my auto tranny will hold under boost.

Good luck wit that....

Wow, thats awesome. I don't think I have the fortitude to do that kind of work to my car, but I'm glad you do, and it looks like it will turn out good.

Of course it's possible! People have been doing this since a long time ago.

Congrats on the swap A33VQ30DEK. Car should be more fun to drive when it's finished.

Hey Brian, Congrats so far. Maybe you can come up with a parts list on doing a 5spd conversion...

As listed above about the price and parts. Big modifications... cutting holes, assembling the tranny, pedals.. stuff like that... but if you have questions PM turbo95max, he's doing the conversion for me.

Don't think people said it wasn't possible, just not cost effective vs just buying a manual.

the detense (spelling) are messed up or something. someone know how to assemble a tranny in california?

Good Job. I've been to a couple swaps and all you guys buy that same short shifter with that pain in the but clips to install, unless you have the clippers for it.

I'm not sure it would be worth it anyways. 6 speeds doesn't always make you a faster car over 5.

The 6 speed swap is a waste of time, since the 5 speed drops right in and the car was made to use it. No advantage of the 6 speed over 5 speed, as the ratios weren't made closer for racing or anything.
