General opinion of wood dash kits?

I saw this dash kit on www.woodtrim.com and my first impression was "hm, nice." What's the general opinion here on the .Org on dash kits? I know a lot of people have the aluminum dash kits with their black interiors, but I have a dark gray interior and it came stock with the wood trim on the door controls, around the shifter, and on the change tray.

I also put in a wood trim eBrake handle, shifter, and steering wheel cover.

So... what's the word on going one step further with a full dash kit?

I have this exact dash trim in my car and I like it a lot. It accents the interior of my car well.

i really like a good wood dash kit... but it to me it really really depends on the interior. tan leather would be the best choice.. i don't really like it with cloth

The only "good" wood is real wood. That includes what's in my pants.

I personally don't like wood trim, real or fake on any vehicle, regardless of interior color, but that's just me. I think it comes down to what the buyer or owner prefers. When I was shopping for my latest Max, 2003 SE, I didn't even consider any GLE's strictly because many of them come with wood trim.

real wood is very nice. the plastic colored wood inserts are ghey. i sat in my friends 03 i35, and it had tan leather+fake wood. looks ok, but feels plasticky. i dont like it for the plastic feel. on the other hand some lexus+benz cars with real wood are awsome.

Get the darker red wood trim if you decide to go way. Looks better in my opinion.

Hello,

I'm new here... but hi anyways...

I'd preffer solid colors on the trimming, instead of the wood kit. I've yet to see a wood kit that fits really good.

wood trim = doesn't belong on a max. personally i think they only belong on higher end luxury cars in which the max doesn't really classify... think 4DoorSportsCar haha

Remember when they used to put that on the 3rd gen Max's? "4DSC"? lol

But that'll only cover, like, 1/4 of the clock trim.

I like it. I'd go with this one though: http://www.woodcorp.com/product_page...t=NI-MAXIM00CB
In Europe Maximas come with wood dash from the dealer.

I did not get this kit 'cause my maxima is a poor man's sports car not poor man's luxury car. lol

Well... I don't know if you'd consider a Lexus to be a higher end luxury car, but my mom's car is an ES 300 and I'd pick my Max over her Lexus 10 times out of 10. Yeah, a Maxima isn't marketed as a luxury car, but a leather interior with factory wood trim on the door controls and around the shifter looks virtually indistinguishable from that of a luxury-esque vehicle retailing for $10k more.

I'd like to think a Maxima can look sporty on the outside, perform well, and look luxurious on the inside.

most of the kits you find are cheap and really won't look good. If you find a good kit it can look nice although it is really not my taste

speaking of my own 03 gle with the wood trim. I think it looks great. Anyone who would avoid the gle because of the trim is crazy i think. The rims alone are much better/classier to me and others. I owned a 2002 se before the 2003 gle and comparing the two i would much rather have the wood trim along with the wheels any day. No offense because i do like the se wheels and would still own one if i had not totaled it. Paying 33,000 for a car does not classify as poor mans car by any stretch of the imagination.

Lexus???? pff. my gf has a lexus, the only thing that car has on my max is awd. Lexus is just another name for overpriced toyota. if your car didnt come with wood trim, it doesnt need to have it and will just look goofy with it.

I had wood kit in my 02 and I liked it, but I would never put it in my 03 TE. I just belong in the max. I don't know what I was thinking.......

IMO, wood does not belong in any car made after 1940. It is like having a wooden keyboard on your computer. (I know you can get those too now, lol)
To me it's the same as this http://damncoolpics.blogspot.com/200...oden-cars.html

wood trim......

Wood trim kits are mostly cheaply made, and they typically make the car look cheaper in its entirety. You might as well put some 3M leopard print to accent the interior of a prestige looking Maxima.

My opinion….No good!!!!

wood grain gives a classly look... i accidently left a air freshner sitting on the wood grain around the gear shifter in my i30 and the oils made the wood grain peel.... we learn from our mistakes
