is it possible for an HID kit to fade?

i have a McCulloch 10000K H4 single beam kit, ive been running those lights for about a one and a half years now...they still have excellent light output, but it seems as if the color of the light faded from being a nice cool blue to more of a white. i know this thread is worthless without pics, but the digital camera does not pic on on the difference...you can only see it with the naked eye, i took new pics and compared them to old ones and light appears the same. but when i look at it myself it looks a lot "whiter" than it did in the past when they were more "blue-ish" can they fade over time?

thanks
-dave

Absolutley. The color WILL fade over time, esp. with higher color ratings such as your kit. Either Umnitza or Helios had a time/color comparison chart up somewhere, I don't know where it is.

But yes, they will and do fade over time.

the xenon gas in the HID bulbs themselves has a differing reactancy ratio as time goes on and it has been ignited many times over (in the thousands). You should expect a bit of a color change in your bulb output as they get nearer to the end of their life span.

+1 on Metal Maxima's post

IMO all you need is new bulbs. There is no reason to think that your ballasts or igniters are problematic.

oh yea i didnt think anything was wrong with my ballasts or igniters i had a compatability concern...if i wanted to get a different kelvin output either higher or lower would it matter that i have 10000k now, or are the ballasts pretty much universal as far as kelvin rating of the bulbs?
