I wish someone could come up with something like this for the 6th gen max tails, unlike the one that CE has

thanks for the compliments, they are appreciated. and to answer some questions about these...

No writeup, these were not simple to make and to create a writeup that would explane to
someone w/ limited or no knowlage of electronics, how to make a set... would be a greater undertaking than making the lights.

Me and metal will be working together to get a few sets available, but these will not be cheap,
it took a lot of work to develope the LED array / power module, and it is a lot of work to assemble
and get them in the lights. A set of these ( in new housings) will be in the $600+ range .
It sounds like a lot but when time and materials are all accounted for the price is very reasonable.

w/o getting into to much detail, It is possible to get a set of tails to look like that. but cant be done using 02-03 housings.

Sorry, that is a little somthing for myself, i dont plan on making anymore up.

here are a few night pics, I took them after i finished up my brakes last night, It was late,
i was exhausted and when the cameras batterys died, i just didnt have the energy to get
chraged ones and continue taking photos. I will get some better ones today.I snaped these
to compare, a OEM tail (left) against the LED tails(right), the pics dont do justice, in the pics
it looks as though the one using the bulb is consideably brighter, it isnt. they both throw out the
same light, but the light from the LED panel is distributed evenly over the panel where the bulb
is a single hotspot that overwhelms my camera and gives that glareing effect.

tailights + blinker...it looks as though a few leds are out to the right, but they are not

Just tails

and both tails installed, at my fathers house i left the car sitting in the middle of the street w/ the
lights on and took his car for a ride down the block to get an ide of what they look like to
others.......they look good, you cant realy tell these are LED tails untill you get w/ in a hundred
feet or so, then the individual ponts of light become discrenable......definatly gonna snap necks w/ these

Dr. Roy how do you think they would look in 00-01 SE tails?
02-03 tails have only one strip of reflector when older ones have 3

I was wondering the same thing. the reflector strip in the 02-03 housings is thick and does not transmit light well, i am hoping that the thinner reflective strips in the 00-01 tails will not affect light transmission.
Metal has a few boards coming his way and has a set of 00-01 lights opened up so we will know soon enough

Is there anyway to use larger LEDs in rows like in a 4th gen?
So that when you brake, more rows lights up and all of them get brighter, or is that the only design?

the LED panel + power supply is about $300 + the cost to have them retrofit into the tails. Metal will be handeling that so i will let him set that price.

Nope, not with these, until metal finishes his, this is the only design.

the short answer is no, LEDs are not bright enough.
