How are the options packaged on the 5.5 Gen?

I will be in the market for a new (used) car soon and a 5.5 Gen Max is a top choice. I hope to find a loaded 6MT with HLSD. The only option I don't really care about is nav.

Leather, climate control, sunroof, and HLSD are the most important options to me but the heated seat, steering wheel and mirrors would also be nice, are these packaged together?

I understand HLSD came with silver pedals, did it come with any other options?

On the 4G leather and climate control came together and almost always came with a sunroof, is this the case with the 5.5 Gen?

to my knowledge, the heated wheel and mirrors came with the Meridian package. I think you could get heated seats in another way or package, but the mirrors and wheel (which is GREAT!) came with the Meridian package. I have a GLE, so i dont really know the packages available with the SE but as far as i know, they are basically identical except for the obvious 6 speed/HLSD.

You can get the Meridian package ( heated mirrors and steering wheel) without leather but with heated seats. The Leather package comes also with power roof and passanger powered seat. All 6 speeds come with HLSD I think? Nav is completely seperate.

I just bought an 03 Maxima and wanted to confirm the option packages before I finalized my search. I found a 2003 Brochure in PDF on the net and printed it out so I could confirm the packages with each dealer that had one for sale. I found mine on Autotrader and travelled a few hours to pick it up in Wisconsin, from a private seller for $18,600, with 25K miles on it. Anyway, I hope this helps. You might need to copy and paste the link since I don't think I can add it to my post:

This might help..it was a window sticker from one of the cars I was considering buying.

It's just missing leather seats.

Thanks, it's a little hard to read but still helpfull. On that sticker it looks like LSD and the sunroof are stand alone options and heated seats/steering wheel are combined.

Does climate control come with leather? or are they separate options?

Not all 6-speeds came with HLSD. HLSD was an option on manual cars, not on autos. It included the AE style pedals which are not on the sticker.

The TE and ME options are included in the sticker you have as well as titanium stitching on the shift boot and available titanium paint for the TE option.

Navigation was an available option and relocated the disc changer to the trunk, made for a simpler stereo up-front, and made climate controls display on-screen.

I have the sticker for mine out in my car and it includes all options Nissan offered in 03 (and topped out over $32K!). Assuming I remember, I will look at it tonight and let you know more if you still have questions.

That's my exact sticker except I have the leather package. My car is fully loaded except for NAVI which isn't that great in the maxima and really rare. My sticker price was like $32,000

I wasn't able to post a link to the website with the PDF for the 2003 Maxima, but if you copy and paste the information listed below, it will take you to a pdf at Garden Grove Nissan, that has all the options, along with package descriptions for the Max. It was what I used to evaluate the cars that I was considering at the time.

http://www.nissangg.com/Brochures/MaximaBrochure.pdf#search='2003%20Nissan%20maxima% 20brochure'

Print the three page document and you have everything you need to map out the different packages and options that might be considering when you get ready to buy.

No. The heated mirrors (if you have them) come on with the rear window heater.

According to the brochure, TE was required to get the SE Leather Package. I didn't realize that one. Honestly, I thought you could get Leather without TE. Maybe only in 2002 since it was an 03 option.

The interior of the car in the link you have(http://www.nissangg.com/Brochures/MaximaBrochure.pdf#search='2003%20Nissan%20maxima% 20brochure') is a GLE if I am not mistaken (black background on the speedo and tach as well as the wood trim). The Nav screen looks like the one pictured, however.

Basically, with everything including Nav, you top out at about $32,500+. Without it, you get in the neighborhood of $31K, and if you add anything like wind deflectors or such, you can quickly come up to nearly $32K. That being said, the average you should pay for the car is around $10K to maybe even $17K less than that depending on options, mileage, and condition! Simply amazing for all the car you really get. And I am sure since you've already gotten your car, you already realize that one.

Thanks for all the replys, to sum up (if I have it correct) ---

Titanium package (requires Sunroof)(2003 only) - Bose stereo, cd changer, shiny wheels, side air bags and some cosmetic stuff.

Side airbags, Bose - Stand alone options for 2k2

Meridian package (requires TE and sunroof) - Heated seat/mirrors/steering wheel

Leather (requires TE and sunroof) - includes auto climate control (requires meridian package on the 2003)

Sunroof - stand alone option

Traction control (auto)/HLSD (6MT)
- stand alone option.

This is very helpful, if I see a car listed with leather I know it has auto climate control, if it is listed with heated seats I know it also has heated steering wheel and mirrors.

Edited to reflect new info, and I finaly got the link to work, I had my pdf reader screwed up.

How hard is it to find HLSD? Is HLSD more common on cars with leather?

Just a couple of minor alterations.

Leather needs TE for some odd reason.
TE requires sunroof.
ME requires sunroof and TE on SE models.

I think that's it (if the link is correct ).

I hope you enjoy your car!

Cut and paste this link for the brochure: http://www.nissangg.com/Brochures/MaximaBrochure.pdf#search='2003%20Nissan%20maxima% 20brochure

The Bose system and side airbags were also stand alone options for 2002.

This is great- I've been shopping for an 03 for 2 weeks now, and hadn't been able to keep track of all the options/requirements until now.

Planning on buying a smoke '03 GLE with ME tomorrow! Looking forward to forum goodness!

Price Change?

I have an 02 with every option (I think) except nav and HLSD, and the sticker is $30,400. The nav is a lot, but the HLSD is only $400. 2 people said theirs was around 32k, without nav but with HLSD. Did the price go up in 03?

Edit:
Just went out and looked at my sticker. It has the following info:
TE Package = $999
Nav System = $1999
ME = $399
Leather Package = $1499
Trunk Mat = $59
HLSD = $399
Sunroof = $899
Splash Guards = $129
Base = $25649 + $540 Destination + Options = $32,571

So if you're sticker from the factory was at $30,400 that's about right for Nissan to have stayed the same price from 02 to 03, especially if you have an auto as Traction Control is a $400 or $500 option.

Hope that helps!

Extremely helpful thread guys, thanks a lot!

Quick question. Could someone post or link a couple pics of the difference between standard and TE rims?

Reason being, I'd like to know if the Maxima I bought earlier this month had it's rims swapped with another before I got it.

Thanks to anyone that can identify the difference!

My rims:

Those are TE.

These are sooner's non-TE SE wheels:

Quickest and easiest way to tell the difference is in full daylight; TE wheels have a deep shine, almost like chrome whereas standard SE wheels have a lighter shine and less like chrome.
