HID question

I just got a set of HIDs for 2003 Maxima and have a question regarding the wiring. There is a sack of wires coming out of each ballast and 4 connectors. There is a small gray one running into a black box. Then from the box there is a harness going to the bulb. Then there are 2 gray connectors running from the ballasts and I have no clue what they are for. Do those hook up to the high beams and corner lights? If they are, could I just leave them disconnected and use my old wiring for those?

are they legal??? No one here is going to give you any advise on how to install them... You need a wiring harnes form www.courtesyparts.com or your local stealership. Good luck

give dave b a call for the harnesses.. if your looking for a wiring diagram your going to have to go through what everyone else did and show proof of purchase due to all the HID thefts for our gen max.

Sounds kind of "fishy" to me. Anybody familar with HID's in our Max's know exactly what those wires are that you're talking about. Like someone said, show proof of purchase and ownership, and you'll get the information you need. Good luck!

I drive to Toronto often. I don't know how far you live from Toronto but once you get those harness, I'll help you install them.

There is nothing fishy about this. I don't even own a Maxima. I got a set of HID ballasts off 2003 Maxima on Ebay that I want to install in my Grand Marquis. To do so I need to know what the wires are for. Sure, I will show you proof of purchase, what do you want, Ebay link, paypal receipt What?

Here is the Ebay link.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8037337355

I spent 2 hours in a junk yard yesterday looking for Maximas just to see where the wires go but didn't find squat.

Don’t tell this guy anything, he says he got them from eBay then they are definitely stolen. My lights were stolen 2days ago. Ask yourself this question blue merks why the hell would some one be selling there lights anyway? Don’t they need them for there own car? And don’t give me that story about selling parts off of their car for money of some other stupid excuse. Our cars (5.5 gen) are still new no one is just selling parts of there own car.

Gee, thanks for the help, I will be sure never to buy a Maxima or to come here again.

And to answer your question, the lights could have been off a junkyard car. What you are saying is that every single car part that is on Ebay is stolen?

I don't really care if you or anyone here helps me. I am being treated like I stole someone's car and ripped the lights out of it. If that's the way you want to be, it is fine with me. I am sure I wil find help elsewhere.

And for the record, I am a police officer so before you go pointing fingers at people, get to know all the facts.

Have a nice day.

3 blue just try to understand where we are coming from. The headlights from the 02/03 Max's have a very high theft rate (especially in the NorthEast) so much in fact that Nissan issued a fix to make them hard to steal. People get their lights stolen and so those on this board don't want to help out the people stealing lights (but if you bought non stolen headlights they will help). As a cop, I'm sure you can understand where we are coming from-nobody likes getting their stuff stolen.

And on a side note these lights are $1,400 no b.s. HID theft has become a huge problem for us 02-03 owners, most theives hack the front up end bending all kinds of body panels to rip these gold mines off our cars and we can't do a whole lot to prevent them. We don't mean to scare you off this is just a sore subject for us. Imagine getting your $1,400 headlights stolen and having your front end ruined at the same time just because some a$$hole wanted to make some money. This happens to someone everyday on here and I hope it's never me.

jokerk01 needs to chill out. There are not stolen HIDs on E bay and what is this "why the hell would some one be selling there lights anyway? Don’t they need them for there own car" there are a lot of extra headlights out there. I am sorry for your loss but dont take it out on someone here. When I step up to HIDs I am planning to get the replica OEM ones on E bay so I would hope someone would help me install them. Thats why I am here to get help and talk about my max.

Shut up. I used to go around local junkyard and buy many sets of Maxima HID headlights and sold them on ebay. I'm sure others have done the same. Just because you buy headlights on ebay don't mean they were stolen. Some might have been but not ALL.

Pic that i took before we went inside to eat

Pic after we came back outside to find out my boy's headlights were gone

You know I wish we had come out earlier maybe we could have made a scape goat out of headlight ripper

I'm glad to see this site isn't so happy to help out potential shady folks...some sites dont seem to care, but man its annoying...and with the known theft issues of the Max's headlights its good to see the message board folks looking out for people

Look I know I came of a little like an A$$ but until you come out of work and find that your fender, hood and horn are all messed up please don’t tell me to shut up. When I wrote that, the experience was fresh in my mind so you must understand where I am coming from- no headlights at 6:30 pm and trying to make it home with the factory fogs only so as you might imagine I was pissed to say the least. So blue merks my bad

Not only were they fast stealing the headlights, they managed to install clear side markers while they were at it.

they also managed to pop the hood open with no damage to the car??? And how come the rear view side mirrors are folded in on the second pic?? a courtesy service??
(don't mean to make light of anyone having their lights ACTUALLY stolen, but this reeks of purposeful deception)

This is to tell me that some people are on the Org just reading through threads like I always do lol

As for everybody that cared, Thanks a lot. My lights were actually stolen two weeks ago. No joke but I never got a chance to take the pics. Just wanted to see what the reactions would be like. And plus try to make this thread a little fun.

I can help you but I will need to check for the list of things you will need to install them. But before I jump the gun, Why not sell those projector headlights and buy the regular 02 / 03 headlights? Theyre cheap if you get them from another Org member. Just check the parts for sale forums

But if you insist on installing the projectors pm me and I'll try my best to help you.

If you want D2R replacement bulbs check here.

http://stores.ebay.com/hid-lights-co
I bought my 8000K HID bulbs from him. The shipping is a little slow though but you sure will get the right color temp bulb you seek.
hope this helps you

You know something I just don't understand about the before and after pictures. In the second photo the headlights are gone or stolen, but then the thing that puzzles me is that the mirrors are folded hmmm and and the side markers are clear. Did they thieves swap their clear ones for factory amber and red ones? Usually it's other way around and even if they wanted factory markers why would they bother to replace them in such a situation where time if of the essence and every second counts.

Hey guys,

I may be buying an 02-03 6speed in the future. This HID theft concerns me as I have seen reports stating the HID theft as the big reason for high insurance rates. Have any of you tried using a hood lock? And what are datadots? Thanks.
