Well one con is you shell out all this money and think that if your car breaks, it will be fixed for free. I have the silver preferred warranty and had to pay $500 to fix the evap system. (Surprise, it wasn't covered).
Now I have a 1039 and 1147 code for the o2 sensor and they can't even tell me if that item is covered until after I pay them $50 for the diagnostic fee. So I hope it will be covered because if not I think I am just gonna cancel the policy and get some money back. Sorry, I really can't give you a good reason to get the warranty, nothing good has happened to me yet.

I have one through Interstate Star Auto, they are great. it has paid itself off +$800.

I can take the car anywhere I want and it has a $50 deductable.

I just came off my extended warranty (6/160Kkm, 0 deductible, the big one) and it more than payed for itself. I think it has even payed for the extended warranty for next car I buy!

What got done under extended: (from memory)
- Sunroof motor (64K)
- Rear O2 sensor (102K, 127K)
- Crankshaft pulley, main belt, PS belt (137K)
- Driver door lock latch (158K)
- Front wheel bearings (132K)
- Alternator (107K)
- Rear calipers, pads (155K)

There are probably a few things I missed and a few other things that I could have gotten done but was just to damn lazy. (BTW, yes, since 100Kkm my Max seems to be a lemon.)

Here's my experience with my extended warranty. It's through API. I picked up car at 45k and the warranty goes until 100k.

Also, yesterday I got a repair for $193 that I paid nothing out of pocket. Warranty covered repair, rental with no deductible.

i don't remember the one I had.. but it covered everything. I recommend an extended warranty... it will pay itself in the long run

Just to provide a balance to everyone else's experience that an extended warranty or service plan will "pay for itself", I bought Nissan's Security Plus Gold Preferred 6 yr/100k coverage when I bought the car brand new and have NEVER had to use it.
