I'm looking into replacing the factory 17's. I know there has been alot of discussion on tire widths but my question is if any owners out there have 17 by 8.5 If you do, how do they look? Do they extend past the wheel well. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanx in advance.

8.5" rim requires a +32 offset versus the standard +40 and it will fit like a glove.

... therefore, I can just slap on the 17's/8.5 with no problem?

What tire width do you suggest?

Fletch.

geta 39 mm offset if youre getting 8.5 and i'd suggest 245 or 235 but 245 is better.

Hey Fletch did you get my PM? Just in case you didn't you can order the K&N from Canadian Tire (takes a couple of days) and should run you about $70.00CDN. BTW is you car a 5spd or Auto? Seen a couple of Black AE around town...

I like the 245/35 better than the 235/35 myself. On my IS 300 I have the 245/35 19" vs my max having the 235/35 19" and there is a world of difference! Go for the 245/35 19" Pirelli P-Zero Assymetreco Rosso. Low now noise and smooth ride!

He dosent' want 19"s he said he wanted 17x8.5 so he should go with a 245-40-17 or a 235-40-17 or a 245-45-17(don't do this)or a 235-45-17.

Hey PhatGuy,

Thanx for your response ... Personally, I refuse to drive an auto until I have arthritis in my knees!! 5spd all the way baby!!

To tell you the truth, I would have bought the TL type S if it was available with a stick. The one thing that worries me is when the 2002 Max comes out with the 6spd trans. I wanted to wait until September but seeing all the Maximas around town made me buy now.

If you're interested in tinted your windows, I can refer you to the best in town.

Fletch.
