Stupid question about tint

This is a really stupid question, but I am going to ask it anyways. I love tint on a car, but the last time I had a car tinted (qite a while ago) it looked great for a few years then started to bubble like crazy and looked like #$%^. So just wondering has the technology gotten any better? Is it still plastic film glued to the window?

Most places guarantee their work now, I'm not sure what the tint is made of now, but I've never had any problems with any of my vehicles that were done by professionals. So I would say go ahead and tint your windows. I can't imagine not having a car with tinted windows... lol

Go for it. Reputable shops give lifetime warranty against bubbles, and most high quality films have lifetime fade warranty.

it's llumar, not lunar. both llumar and solarguard (sp?) are lifetime warranty for the film. a reputable installer will give you great film+labor warranty. it's not unreasonable to pay $200-300 for all windows for quality film and labor.

is the quantum tint part of the solarguard family? anyways i have had the quantum on my previous car for a few years and still looks new. i also have it on my current car. just don't get those cheap black tint that turns purple after a few years...get tints that have lifetime warranty so if it evers bubble up or fades you can have them fix it. i paid $240 for mine installed at a very reputable shop in so cal. it's also good to just keep the receipt in your glove box.

yep he is getting im in socal and im getting all my windows tinted with llumar tint (the one actually derived from the base color black, not metallic, bluish, greyish, greenish, or purpulish, BUT black) for about $130 for all my windows and i think i can get my front windshield tinted for another 30-40 bucks ..more than $200 is insane

You had cheap 1-yr warranty tint on that is why it went... Had the same on my Max when I just bought it and had to have it stripped because it started pealing...

There is a great tint-shop close to Lake Ave and King St in Stoney Creek that does it well for good price (done 3 of my cars there). For premium tint you'll get the 10-yr warranty along with it too which covers the color changing, bubbles, etc... It's called Absolute Tinting, ask for Alex 905-664-3652... PM me if you need more details...

what tint is the best on the market? Or should I just go with the tint that has the life time warranty? And is $180 for 35%-20% graphite a good price with the life-time warranty and also $120 for regular 35%-20% tint with the same warranty....which would u choose??

Thanks

you should tint the sunroof...looks better that way i think i have 20% or 35% on my sunroof and i think it's good enough. i always just open the shade and tilt the sunroof...doesn't get too burning hot with the tint on there hah

Bad idea to tint sunroof. If I see a cop around me, I open my sunroof shade to allow more light to come in that way they can see more of me, and don't have a reason to pull me over.

had mine done at Ziebart (yeah, the rustproofers) for about $200 back in Minnesota in '99 after owning my (then) new car for a couple months. Almost seven years later, still looks PERFECT.

Llumar 20 ATR all the way around. I think tinting the moonroof glass is pointless since there is a shade there anyway.

Just wondering if anyone knows the laws for CT? I don't know where to look for them online and I want to get it done before the weather starts getting hot. I've heard a few people say that it was 35% max, but I'm not sure if the front and/or rear can be tinted.
