Hey Guys, I have a question, that's going thrue my mind for sometimes, after reading all the thread about OSCAI, last week-end I decided to have a look at the original Nissan air box that on my 2k1 se 20 th. After looking and localising where the OSCAI plug in to, I figured out that I have to cut the down part of the air box tubing ( dont know how to call it ) which have approximately a 3" diameter, do I have to cut that part so the OSCAI will fit in with a clamp to tie them up ? if I cut it what about Nissan warranty ?
or should I buy another stock air box just to put in when I go for service ?

Last time I went to my dealer they looked at me like if I was delinquant, they saw my clear corner, Xenon and FSTB, and I felt like I was a kid who got caught after doing some bad tricky joke.

What do you guys thinks.

Cheers

Double A

I would just cut it. It would cost you some serious $ to get another one to replace your existing stock filter compartment.

If you end up needing to take the car in for a repair and think it will be an issue, you can just put the cut part back on with some electrical tape and I am guessing that they would never even notice. I get the same looks regarding my mods that you do when I go to the dealer. So far they have been cool about things though.

For clarification...

The scoop is actually a seperat part from the airbox so you can remove the scoop and not have to replace the whole airbox.

The dealer probably won't notice the cut scoop. Or, you could just buy the 2k scoop....it will have the L-tube opening.

Save the sawed off part. 1 week before service, re-attach it with the black electrical tape. This allows a little dust and grime to settle on to the tape, camouflaging it better. I was more worried about the 2 inch diameter hole in the plastic deflector. This would be far more noticeable to anyone working on your car. I also saved that cut-out circle of plastic and taped it back in place. It's barely noticeable. I'm not sure what you can do if you are questioned about it. You'd just have to be honest and hope for the best. Fortunately for me, nobody brought it up. I can't see why the whole warranty should be voided if you install an OSCAI. I can understand that if there is any possible link between a defect and the air intake, they could probably refuse to honor the warranty. That's a possibility you must consider when deciding if an OSCAI is worth it.

I think I remember someone posting that the 2K Air scoop won’t fit on a 2K1.

If I do OSCAI, I think I'll wind up getting a new 2K1scoop.
If the dealer has ANY excuse not to do the work, they'll use it.
