Well here it goes... the max i have right know was handed to me by my mom...
the problems is it was a AUTOmatic..... and the car has 63,000 on it right know. i still want a maxima 02-03... and i can feel it sliping
so should i trade it in for a 6spd (car is paid off and is a 2003 ) and will they give me an eventrade.......

second any problems for the 6spd tranny i should knoe about....

i dont feel like putting another autoragic in... then it blows later on....
i am going to be taking everything off of it b4 i would trade it in to...

im in the exact same position. i hate auto's but i couldnt refuse the deal my parents gave me on the car. So now im lookin to trade it for a 6 speed. your gonna be better off trying to sell your car on your own rather than trading it in, youll get a lot more than you will at the dealer for it.

yeh, im just doing the swap cause it would have cost me a lot more to trade in and buy a 6spd. swap is more an option for anybody who cant take stuff off their car and have enough on the car for it to matter.

dude, when you trade it in, your gonna lose money for sure. its not like they let you just drop off the old one and let you take another one. your trade in value isnt really worth it though. just try to sell it.

trade in is the worst idea..i faced the fact recently when i got my 2002 maxima. I traded in my old mazda with a body kit and rims fully loaded..etc..and got nearly 2k under what kbb.com stated.

Have you tried to fix the slipping? Changing ATF, or switching to sythetic ATF? It might be something as simple as that and would save you all the hassle of trying to sell/trade in your car for a 6sp.

Your not gonna get a even trade swap. The dealer has tons of auto 5.5 gens on there lots and if they have a 6 sp your gonna have to pay a little something on top of your trade. The dealers know that 6sp are rare and the most sought after.

Dude how many options does yours have, and what are you looking to get? Find a dealer that thinks a manual is less valuable than auto(technically it is since auto is more of a luxury item) but with the maxima 6 speed is rare so they might charge more for it. haggle them on the price of the new car and the trade, and options, say the new one doesnt have bose and yours does, or something and it has 6k more miles, and wave some cash in their face you could walk away with only a few grand down to cover the rest. Heres what happened to me(didint take the deal):
wanted to trade my 2001 black/black SE 5 speed (some people think a pretty sharp car) with roof, power/heated leather, bose, auto climate, wheel radio controls, heated mirrors, 17's, basically every factory option and 62,500 miles for a 2002 SE 6 speed, it had 17's, cloth seats, only drivers seat power, no bose, no heated seats, no side air bags, manual climate control so basically i would gain a 3.5, 6 speed, HID's and better shifter feel- with only 32,000 miles. Wanted 17995 they went to 17 and gave me 11,500 woulda been 124 a month if i traded. Decided i could get HID's clear tails and the power of the 3.5 for less than 5500 dollars. Ok hope this helps, let us know when you find a car

Yes if you're gonna trade it or sell it for another car, don't get another Maxima. Get a G35 or BMW.

I would keep a car that has been in the family since new. You know the history of the car.

Before my 02 auto got totalled I tried to see what I could do about trading in my 02 auto for a 6 speed. The dealers know the value of the 6 speed and when I was looking the dealers lot would be loaded with autos and maybe 1 6speed. One of the biggest Nissan dealers in Mass didn't even have a used 6 speed in stock cause they couldn't keep them on the lot when they got them. Last thing they want is another auto sitting on there lot with the rest of the autos. They wanted my car plus 4000.00 more for a loaded TE 6 speed w/o navi. I said hell no and walked. Couple months later an accident did in my auto and I got my 6 speed...

i love G35 but even if i do get a g35 i will only get like 13-16 for my max selling it.... and i could put that as a downpayment...
but monthly payments and i found a job soo my mom will make me start paying for the rest of the loan if i got a G35

Most dealers use kbb fair condition (for a nice clean car) to value a trade-in. So if you want an idea how much the dealer will give you for your car, you should look up your car on kbb and use the fair condition option to check the value of your car (trade-in). That is how much the dealer might offer you.

Another thing is that dealers don't like to sell cars with mods because they can't sell any warranties with such a car. For that reason they offer you nothing for the car even though you've spent a fortune on such a car.

I would suggest that you sell it privately, you'll get more money that way and then look around for a nice 6spd.
