5th gen = 00-03

00-01 Didn't have it available as an option.

02-03 Had it as an option.

I test drove an 03 yesterday with the navi option. Very unimpressed. The salesman spent 5 minutes just trying to figure out the main menu...then still couldn't get it to work. It uses CDs instead of more modern DVD-based units. You also lose the 6D changer on a GLE (did some have the changer in the trunk instead?), and cd function altogether when you are using the navi disk. The funny thing was that they had jacked up the price of the car (which was in otherwise great condition), touting how rare of an option it was....but it's been on their lot since mid December! Whoever buys the car will most likely put something else in it's place...as it was difficult to use, and didn't even seem to work right. It also does some of the controlling of the AC system...which was a little cumbersome IMO. Of course, once you get the thing working it may very well be easy to use/adapt to...but your extra $$s would probably be better spent on an aftermarket one. just my 02.

Props to Nissan for early adoption though! Who was the first manufacturer to stock navis? BMW? Mercedes?
