how do you know if you need the tcu replaced? i posted a thread and i'm not sure if i need it or not. i've got a half second hesitation shifting from 1-2 when i floor it but no hard shifting, just real smooth. i'm not sure what to look for.

also, how'd you install your shifter? it is just a bolt on? how bout the overdrive button? thanks

The best way to find out if you need to fix the solenoid/TCU is to drive up a hill at 3/4 to full throttle and watch the shift from 1st to 2nd. Shifting harder (in this case) is better because that means your tranny is not slipping. You basically see the tach go all the way up and when the cars shifts, 2nd gear won't engage for about 1/2 to 1 second.

1/2 second to shift from 1st to 2nd is definitely a problem. Go take your car to the dealer and they'll probably replace the shift solenoid.

If you want more info, browse through the forum and look for solenoid/TCM threads with opinions/comments from other members.
