how much would you pay

ok I have been offered a 2001 Maxima SE20AE sterling mist with leather for $1000 down and $177/mo for 60 mos. that is like $11620. is that too much for a automatic with 100k plus miles???

A car with over 100K financed over 5 years sounds like trouble to me...if you cant afford it for 4 years or less then I wouldnt buy it. By the end of 5 years your going to owe WAY more than what the car is worth...not a good position to be in financially!

well it is an AE, but with that kinda mileage, nooooo wayy. you could get one for a couple thousand less depending on how high that mileage is.

that sounds alittle high for the miles, unless of course it's just a bad loan rate

I got my maxima from a dealer repeat a dealer. It was agle 2001 with everything and 60000 miles for 10000. 11000 is a little steep for that kind of mileage even though it is an "AE" save your money and be patient and coming from a maxima owner from an 00-01 save up and get a 02-03. It is well worth the investment. Hope this helps. I couldnt agree more though with the previous statement of financing for 5 years. I would be weary of financing for that long.

No, do not buy that car.

With it having over 100k it should be no more than $8500. 100K is the magic # for a cars value, once it hits it, the value drops big time.

If you have to pay an old car like that for five years, you cannot afford that car. It will cost you more in repairs and you cannot get an extended warranty on it. I think you need to drop down to a 4th gen, you can get a really nice with under 100k on it for way cheaper.

NEVER FIANCE A CAR WITH 100,000 MILES. Theres a strong chance the car won't out last the payments......That's a cash only car. If you can't buy it cash then look for something else newer with less miles......

I recently bought a '01 SE with 99K for $9K cash in mint condition. If your total price includes the finance charge, it's probably in the ballpark. The problem is you'll be upside down (owe more than it's worth) pretty quickly.

yeah I really want a 2003 blk/blk lthr se/te 6spd. missed out on one in va for $13k wit only 33k miles. not one flaw on it. but that is the loan setup the dealer offered on that ae. if i did get that i would double up the payments. but you guys think pretty much like me so now my mind is made up completely against it

Almost exactly a year ago I paid 14,500 including tax, title, and registration for a 2000 maxima with 53,000??? They had it on the lot for 16,900. My dad is a mechanic at the dealership, and supposedly they gave me his cost, which was $750 over what they had in it. We are almost sure that that wasn't true... but it is in very nice condition, and has every option but auto-dimming mirror.

Sorry for the thread-jack.

I got into a 5.5 gen 6spd for 11500 and it had 72k miles. I put 1k down and financed 10,500. It was a 60 month but I plan on paying it off in 4. Doesnt sound too horrible if the factors are after intrest but unless they drew up the papers, youre prolly gonna pay more than that. I say no to 60 months with 100k miles unless you plan on paying it off earlier.

i dont think u will have any problem financing it as long it is a open finance so u can pay it off whenever i did a 5 year finance but plan to pay it off by the end of this year.. you also dont have to pay the interest on 5 years cause its open.

These cars hold value but its more in years than miles- you can find a 4th gen for over $10,000 with between 55-75k miles, i wasnt sure the 5th gens had dropped below 10 yet but looking on autotrader there are some with anywhere between 110-160k miles from 7500 up to 9500- it IS an AE though, so like these guys said the price probly isnt too bad if it includes finance charges but i wouldnt wanna pay that much for something with the miles. I went through the same thing, trading a 99 grand am with 101k i was gonna get a 99 SE with 98000 miles for around 7800, but i thought the miles were too close to what i had so i went with an 01 with 55k miles. i put a lot on so if i got the other car i woulda been up to almost 124k by now!

124K is nothing for a Max. It's not a Pontiac! :-)

What I took from your post is that with interest you are paying $177/month (including interest). Depending on the interest rate, that's somewhere near a $9k loan (not bad).

If I misunderstood and the loan amount is $11k+ then wait for a better deal.

Find out how much the car is costing and then compare. I paid a little more for my car than some other people. Max's seem to cost a little more where I live and I didn't mind paying a little more for an immaculate interior and exterior (I'm slightly OCD) that also indicates to me it was well taken care of maintenence wise as well.

I got my 2000 SE for $13,000 with only 26K miles on it.
The car was in mint condition, looked like it came off a showroom floor
It is white with grey cloth,I wanted Silver with black leather, but I couldn't pass this deal up.

Yeah, I just got an '03 SE 6spd w/ 50k miles for $11k. That deal definitely doesn't sound too hot.
