5th GEN Projectors

I've seen those 5th gen projectors on CustomMaxima... Wondering what everyone thinks of them.....I've seen ****ty projectors before that build up condensation....anyone had trouble with these...ALSO, what color should I get if i get them...I have a black 2K1 SE... I was thinking the black ones.....didn't know if the chrome ones looked a little too corny....???

Any thoughts??? thank you very much....

since Im here....1 more question best looking BLACK wheels with chrome lips for a black 2k1 max....and best wheel size (biggest) without rubbing....thanks so much...im new the Maxima's....I was a faithful altime owner for years....

People who have had them or have them claim the light output is poor.

Why replace your stock HIDs?

yes. the light output is poor b/c of the type of bulbs used and the beam pattern isn't as good as stock. I would stay away from those. I too was going to purchase them b/c I wanted black headlights. I ended up modding my current headlights on my 2000 gxe to look black(ae headlight mod). I will take some pics and try to find the instructions I used.

As for the wheels, I am looking for the same answers

Like what Scheibler said...since you have the 2001 headlights you could do the AE mod.

You could use my detailed write up:

Check the Member's Rides section and you'll see a few owners with Axis wheels. One (or two) members vehicle is featured on Axis' wheel gallery. Check it out.

OK on the projectors subject it is possible to retrofit some projectors in your stock housing. Here is a thread with some pics
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=466562

The person to contact for a write up or instructions is Dr. Roy. The thing with those ebay projectors or other ones on the web is the projectors they use are HORRIBLE. THey have really bad glass in them and as a result the beam pattern is not uniform and no color seperation. Another option you can do is get a HID kit from company like HELIOS or XTEC I know is another popular brand. I am in the same boat as you with a 5 gen stuck with crappy lights. Also one more option you can do is get some custom work done byhttp://customlightz.com it will cost some as does any custom work. As for an AE mod there are several writeup on how to do it. I personally did it following a step by step here on the .org. One note though do not just rub off the chrome use slighly glossy engine enamel for painting it black. Hope this has helped

The glass lense on the projector isn't really the problem, it is the reflector bowl of the projector. It is very angular and not square.

I've noticed on this forum it’s a "big problem" to repost. What's the difference? Its not like anything new and exciting is ever talked about... if you think about it, most of the threads started were started before at some point or another. The search feature isn't the best in the world. Besides, it’s faster to repost than to search and read thru a 10 page thread where most of the replies are irrelevant to the question posted in the first place. Don't get mad at me, maxima.org has stepped it up for me many times when I had a request or a question, but I just think its not as big of a deal as we make of it. Just for fun, read thru some threads.. Most of them say.. "OH MAN, SEARCH!!!, there were threads on this before.. etc.. etc... " Most tech. questions are stickies, and IMO appearance questions, and aftermarket parts questions/ threads need to expire and be deleted.

I love you guys, but I had to mention this.

SEARCH Because then people won't have to retype the samething out again! Do what i did search!

But to answer your question:
get the ebay projectors and go to HID planet.com get their projectors/bulbs/ballasts

do the Roy Special

and don't forget to make a harness or else FIRE!!!!

read dr roy's how to to retro your ebays and read HID's university to see how HIDs werk and how to make a Harness
