I like my friends cluster on his I30.
Are they compatable for a plug and play install or will I need to rearrange the cables?

 

I heard it could be done. This swap only works for the 2k2-2k3 clusters, though. It's not a direct plug-n-play. Some wiring splicing is involved and you have to know which wires are which for the swap in order to get it to work.

 

This question comes up a lot but I have yet to see a definitive answer on this. I know it has been done, but how easy it? I'd like to swap out my 03 cluster to an I35 one.

The only way to find out is if someone tries it.
I do not think there is much of a difference since 2k maxima computers work in i30s.

 

Someone has done an i35 cluster in 5.5 gen... Any idea who?

 

It has been done (I35 in Maxima) but the person who did it wasn't willing to share. I think he had plans to sell the modded clusters on eBay.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. These things aren't all that different. Get the wiring diagrams (look at the FSMs) and re-wire and it should work just fine.

 

I don't think I'd do the swap. As much as I like the I35, I just like our clusters better. It gives us a sportier look, and the I35 features it's luxury ques.

btw, I'd still prefer the 5th gen cluster over the I30 swap, not just the 5.5 gen. If anything I'd do an I30 to 5th gen, or an I35 to 5.5 gen swap.
