Engine stalling immediately after start..?

Went outside today, turned the ignition and the engine seemed like it took just a tad longer to turn over, maybe like 1/2 second longer than usual. It started and then stalled within a second. Did this three times before I finally got it to start by giving it a little gas. After that everything seemed to run smooth. Any ideas? I'm bringing it to the dealer next Thursday for an oil change and alignment, so I wanted to get a heads up before I tell them to check it out.

It could be a your MAF or ignition coils, or a combination of the 2. I had a similar problem where on cold start the engine would idle roughly, like it was about to die. After 2-3 min, though, it would run fine. Turned out to be the MAF and coils, which the dealer replaced for free, somehow.

I would think so.... Might want to give the dealer a call to make sure.

My 4th gen does this from time to time, usually in the winter. Try cleaning out your throttle body and intake plenum with gumout or some other solvent. I find that this usually solves the problem until the next year. Are you seeing/smelling unburnt fuel in the exhaust when you finally get it started after stalling?

mine does something similar, its an 02 SE auto very well maintained, its got 50k miles on it. It starts fine when its cold but when its warm it starts right away revs go up to about 1500rpm then drop down and it stalls, the worst case it stalled 3 times and i gave it a tiny bit of gas to keep it running. dont give it to much gas because its bad for the bearings (little to no oil on the bearings on start up). I know it is the MAF im just waiting for the dealership to replace it under warrenty. other then that it seems to run very well, i get about 330miles to a tank.
