00 Maxima: Short throw shifter
i am interested in putting a short throw shifter in my 00 maxima se. I want to know what brand would be the best to buy and also, buy putting it in will it just shorten the throw or will it also make the actual hight of the stick shorter to give it a better look?

installing an sts isnt hard at all. altho its much easier with moer than one person, the rubber boot u put the shifter thru can be a pain with just one person. save the money and learn soemthing new.
btw i have a pacesetter. i can adjust my height/throw by adjusting the pivot point ball. its very nice, altho a lot more effort is required to shift, but i like it, matches the extra force needed with my clutch.

Thanks for the advise ColdSHO. However, I have to work overtime and travel 600+ miles a week. If I have spare time, I would rather spend it with my loved one. :P Plus, I don't have a garage ![Frown](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Therefore, it will be great if there's a quality shop that can install it for me while I could work with my laptop.

highly doubt a dealer would do it. they hate anything not oem, least the ones ive gone to.
its only like 3 bolts from what i remeber, two to hold the base. and one to attach it to the rod assebly. that and a spring thats really all there is too it.
depending on the shifter tho, the heat sheild might be in the way. i just removed mine alltogether cause ti was rubbing.
all in all id say first timers could do the job in a lil over an hour.
and i did mine in a driveway on jack stands with hand tools, nothing fancy. never done a shifter b4 either.
