Headlight question?

ok I'm having a professional install my umnitza dde's. He told me that the headlights might fog up after he takes it apart n puts them back together. Said water might get in and what not. Has this happen to anyone who has taken apart the headlights? Is there anything he can use to seal the plastic back into good place? Thx guys

No, they will not fog up if you seal them up correctly. Just make sure the glue is hot and gooey, and work fast. The glue dries pretty quick once you take it out of the oven. I just used the same glue that was on the headlights. I haven't had any problems with any moisture getting in.

you can usualy reuse the sealant on the lights, but if you want to be safe there is always Nissan OEM rubber butyl headlight sealer

I'm with MIXXMAX on this, I just did this mod a couple of weeks ago and with the right oven temp and time the glue softens up enough to make a perfect reseal, I've had no fogging issues since and I went into one of the headlights a second time.

BTW I didn't know there were professional Maxima headlight crackers!

Yeah, that black butyl is for the tail lights. This is used to "seal" the tailights to the frame of the car. The grey is for the headlights, but that is glue , not like the "sealant" for the tailights. Also, I'm not sure if Nissan even sells the glue for the headlights because they were'nt made to be re-opened, so that is why it's probably not even stocked as a part number. Hmmmm...... Like I said before, just re-use the glue from the headlights and you'll be fine.

I took my headlights apart three weekends ago. If you do it right you can reuse the seal. I didnt add any additional butyl. Just make sure you have made teh glue sticky enough and it will seal fine no condesation. Also doing this mod is very easy there are countless write-ups on it. Just give it a go for yourself. The more you work on your max the more you love it.
