HELP!! burning rubber smell from passenger side rear wheel well!!!

I am driving home from the movie theatre and I stop at a red light and notice a cloud of smoke covering my car and its coming from the rear right side. I roll down the window and begin to smell burning rubber. I pulled the car into a parking lot and the right rear wheel was hot as hell and it smelled. i made some visual inspections and found nothing...so I proceeded to remove the wheel and jack up the car (the lug nuts were on fire). I made some more visual inspections and still found nothing...what can this be???

thanks
-dave

I bet it's brake-related. Maybe the parking brake cable is rusty and stuck in position, or maybe your calipers are bad. Sorry I can't give you more specific help.

Wouldn't you notice if your brakes were dragging?
