Need some quick help

Hey guys I need some 5th gen specific audio help. I am adding an amp and sub to my stock bose system. I heard that you can tap into the wires going to the rear sub, but I also heard that the amplifier that drives the subwoofer and speakers screws with the signal and filters out all the tones below around 40hz. So I was figuring what if I exposed the wires going into the amp(which is in the trunk) from the headunit and tapped into the rear speaker wires (before they got to the amp)

http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/audiowiring.asp

you can see the wires I am talking about under "input of amp" on the linked page. I would take the positive from the rear driver side speaker and the negative of the rear passenger side speaker. Since these arent amplified I dont need a hi-low converter do I? cant I just connect them to rca cables and plug the rca cables into my amplifier and get all the tones below 40hz.

yeah they tell you to get the pac unit for 60$ I know I can do that

I am wondering if I can do it without that unit.

I know people use the hi-low converter but I havent even been able to find many threads on that

You don't need the adapter at all. Come to the audio forum.
