Could I/Should I enter my car in local shows?
I never thought of my car as anything special, just a run of the mill 5.5gen with a lot of mods, but nothing car show or trophy worthy. I have got a lot of good responses from people about my car, but i figured it was something only maxima enthusiasts would like.
but then i see some guys with trophys parked in front of their car who have wheels and lights and an intake, or are slammed on 20s and bags and nothing more...who have trophys for first or second place. am i missing opportunities here?

shows are for people that mod their cars just for shows. all their mods are cosmetic...the more extreme (rice) the better chance of wining. the majority of the cars couldnt get out of their own way if they did anything that depended on performance mods (1/4 mile or auto-x)
just my opinion
that being said, i really like your car. tastefully done...just enough mods without going overboard

KCMC582 We have talked before about your car. It is really clean and a great example of a greatly done and well thoughtout maxima. You always see cars sort of haphazardy thrown together no concept of lines or tastefullness in cars. You have risen above all that and truely created something to be really proud of. I think you really represent four door performance sedans wonderfully and should enter shows.

those rims look really good, especially on your color. I think u have the ability to win a couple of things...definitely enter....but hopefully your list of performance mods are strong enough to grab the attention of those that go beyond the cosmetics....

Not about how much your ride has --- its about who shows up in your class --- and honestly noone competes in big shows with maxima's nowadays --- so be the breath of fresh air --- there's nothing like showing up with a maxi all done up and have all the Z owners come over and kiss your azz --- suckers --- I'll be in the funk master flex show in NJ next month --- come join me --- here's the link

ill have the inside and outside detailed and cleaned up nicely and then start looking into some local shows. im just worried about the dings and dents from everyday driving and idiots in the parking lot, paint chips, etc etc.
gec, thanks for the invite, i may check that out too, but the FMF shows are crazy celebrity shows...guys like me can compete there?

yea man definately! You should start start out with Hot Tuner Nights: http://www.forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=472534, especially since you're right in NJ... It's a show I'm organizing at my high school but it won't be all ricers. It's a legitimate show with classes, trophies, sponsors and some really nice cars. We have about 70 cars in the show so far. I'll give you more details if you're interested.

I say go for it.

thanks again for meeting up to try out your suspension/rims and exhaust! This car is hotter in person than in pics!

Very clean car, tastefully done, love the wheels.... I am jealous.
Enter it in some local shows for sure, you will get good response. People always like to see something different. A nice new model sedan with tasteful mods makes a riced out civic look like a POS.
I will tell you this much from experience with my integra(check sig.). First of all it is NOT a show car. No body kit, totally stock interior. What it does have is just about every performance mod you can do without forced induction.... including the entire drivetrain, suspension, brakes, etc. No pepboys or nopi crap either, all real jdm oem parts or name brand aftermarket. The car is a 1990 model... 16 yrs old. Only subtle exterior mods. Has a few door dings, 225k on the odometer, a rip in the drivers seat. BUT it has won shows. I am not really into shows, but i have put it in 3 over the years. It won something in 2 of them. The judges have given me similar remarks of "that is the cleanest old integra around" or "the most tastefully done car here" or "nice to see something different".
So as far as I can tell your car will clean up at shows! It is different than what you normally see, super clean and tasteful.... good luck

Hey, you know yours was an inspriation for mine so prop's there, but other than some hardware and a some glory sometime's the attention may not always be good. I used to race mudbog trucks (Toyota) and after a day of kicking Ford and GMC butt, I came back to my parked truck to find it key'd, jealousy can be ugly . It's nice to be noticed but there's a fine line. I also had a friend who a had a showcar 300ZX-TT, he also did local shows and a lot of people would recognize his car on the street as it was also a daily driver, he had his car key'd twice and once it looked like someone just kicked his door ! Related to shows? ...you decide, as I doubt nobody here will donate to have your car fixed, Just my 2cents.
