I googled VB mod and got a bunch of computer sites "speaking nerd". It did give me the listing for Maxima.org which is where I learned of this in the first place. If someone can explain what this is and how much is reasonable, I would appreciate it. If you know where in the western Washington area to have this done, that would be helpful also. Thanks in advance.

VB mod = valve body modification. Basically, tunes the valve body in the tranny to allow faster, quicker shifts. Slipping is elminated and tranny will eventually last longer.

Tranny Cooler = A radiator-like cooler for the transmission fluid. You need to get this if you have your VB recalibrated. The VB will make for faster shifts and your tranny fluid will run hotter. Heat is very bad for a transmission. The tranny cooler will keep the fluid at a lower temp. You can get this even without the VB mod.

TC = Torque Converter. Your auto has this already, but a stronger TC will increase your stall speed and transfer more power from engine to drivetrain. You will be able to get better launches and will lose less power than you would with your stock tranny.

 

why didn't the factory install a better torque converter right away? there must be a catch...

 

well because we already have traction problems to begin with and I am pretty sure a higher stall torque converter lowers gas mileage.

Plus on top of any of that why waste the money.. most people who drive our cars are old

 

I believe the parts chosen for the car come from the lowest bidder. They are more concerned with durability than performance...
