Question for those with 2k4 Caliper Upgrade

Would you mind posting just how much clearance is needed for the caliper itself? Perhaps, if you don't mind, measure the distance from the center of the rotor to the edge of the caliper?

I know if you have at least 2" of clearance from the face of the rotor to the inside spokes, that it's going to fit. But i'm not sure if the caliper itself might touch the inside wall of the rim.

Any help is gladly appreciated.

Thanks!

what rim are you using...size and offset?

I think you're asking what inner wheel diameter is required to fit the caliper, right?

In that case, I think I any 18s would work, and probably most if not all 17s.

I'll try to take measurements with my A34 setup soon and let you know what I come back with.

Josh, it's 17x7.5 Moda R6's with a 35mm offset.

John, you're right. The inner wheel dimension is it!

Seems like the rotor itself will fit, with some room to spare. But i can't verify if the calipers will.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Guys, going back to this. Does the 2k4+ Maxima use the same rotor/caliper as the Murano? I managed to get a measurement off a Murano and i got 7.25" from the center to the head of the caliper that faces the inner rim. Does this sound about right?

Thanks.

Sorry Mike, forgot about this thread. I just went and measured, and roughly, it looks like it's about 7.5" from the center to the outer edge of the caliper. I think it could be a little longer (still less than 8"), but until I can take the wheel off I can't be 100% sure on that measurement.

I just put mine on today, and if i would have seen this earlier, i would have measured...I'm re-bleeding my brakes tomorrow, because the pedal goes to the floor right now, so when i have my wheels off again, i'll make sure to get an exact measurement and get back to you...all i know is the clearance between the caliper and the SPOKES of the wheel is VEEERY slim....that may be where you have a problem, but hopefully you won't with a 35mm offset...

He's not asking about the clearance between the caliper and the spokes, I think he's more concerned with the clearance between the caliper and the inner diameter of the wheel.

yeah i knew he was asking from the center to the inside of the wheel, but i was just saying that the offset might be where he's going to have a problem, because my 17's have plenty space where he's asking me to measure, so i figured most 17's could accomodate these brakes in that dimension....i forgot to measure the distance, though, because i'm just so pissed that i can't get my car back...i have to have it towed tomorrow (since today's memorial day) and have someone check all my brakes, because one of my new calipers is not working and my pedal goes all the way to the floor...AND it just so happens that one of the lugs on the wheel with the messed up caliper is seized so i can't get that wheel off to check my caliper....just my luck

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Well, based on y'all's responses i think this is an impossible upgrade route for me. I have quite a bit of clearance to the spokes (in fact slightly more than the Murano does), but at 7.25" to the inside rim it's a no-go since that already assumes that the caliper literally kisses the rim. It fits on my old ASA rims though. Now i don't know if i should go back to those and sell the Moda's.
