has anyone replaced the control arms on the max??

how easy is it to do without air tools

socket sizes would be greately appreciated

mines all bent to crap ( hit a pothole at 45, ruined the rim, tire, and control arm)

I've done it...both of them a few weeks ago...though with an electric impact (Snap-on, big power)...the bolts into the subframe are TOUGH, and next to impossible without an impact, IMO...

To do it, you have to take off the hub nut and swing the spindle out of the way to access the balljoint nut. DO NOT try to do that nut with a box-end wrench...it WILL strip, guaranteed. Get the spindle/hub out of the way and use a ratchet socket.

Sizes...the hub nut is like 33mm or something crazy large like that. The others you will need are 14, 17, 19, and 22 IIRC - but don't quote me on those, that's off the top of my head.

btw, also make sure to check your strut and make sure it's not bent. I actually bent one of my illuminas hitting heavy road debris, and also cracked the wheel bearing. It didn't hurt my wheel, tire, or LCA strangely enough.

i bent my steering knuckle, my control arm and my strut. my wheel was perfectly fine on the other hand. The toughest bolt is definitely the one that connect the knuckle to the control arm. i am speculating that you did not bend your steering knuckle, because if you did, you will have tons of fun removing the steering control linkage to the steering knuckle. when i was doing that job i almost started slaughtering all organic material in my path...hehe
