I was wondering do Apexi filters sound any different than K&N I know the filter differences for example one is a dry element(Apexi) vs oiled (K&N) but can anyone tell me if there is a note difference? Thanks

on frankencar's website, they say the Apex has a louder growl than the K&N...and it perform about 2-3whp better than the K&N...

I personally have the apex on my car...I said fuggit and paid the extra for a dry filter/superior design...and its also a much better filtering versus other big name brands (especially the K&N)....but I wouldn't mind going with some other filter, if the budget was limited...

it's approximately $50 to get an apex versus the K&N...its up to you to decide if it's worth the $50...

 

Good article thanks a lot of good info. thanks for the input. I am currently running a modified version of the gab and have a K&N. I think they come ridiculously over oiled from Factory. I think this is due to the reason K&N is not sure how long their product is going to sit on the shelf so they over oil them for precaution. When I got mine I immediately washed it and cleaned it a lightly applied oil since I didnt want to take the chance on our sensitive MAF's not as sensitive as 5.5 but sensitive none the less. I think in my experience that K&N is a great product you just cant over oil them. I am just trying to justify the 50 dollor difference since I am a poor college student .

 

I justified it as $50 for the filter upfront, or $100 for another MAF down the road. Just save for 1 extra week and go with the Apexi and you'll never have to worry about it

 

you have to remember, even with the apex's dry filter element, it still doesn't guarantee that your maf won't blow...

bottom line: 2k and 2k2 MAFs are really weak....end of story

 

i had my frankencar since 10K just broke 40K and the filter is fine AND never had a MAF prob k&n although i never oiled it lol

 

I prob wouldn't re-oil it either...I heard the pre-oiled from the factory, is just the right amount for not destroying our MAFs...cattman was having a K&N filter sale not too long ago....he was sellling tons of K&N filters for mad cheap....hes probably gonna have another soon by the end of the year....just pick up a few of those....instead of buying a recharge kit for $10...and having the trouble of taking off the filter, cleaning, re-oiling, putting it back on....just slap on the new one, and have the piece of mind that you didn't overfill..

Yes but after the Flux capacitor install, you should have said something about the Delorean not being included.... I was only able to go back to 2002 with the capacitor on the maxima

I just moved my K&N over from the STI for the time being; they both use the exact same size filter.

 

if your going to get such a ****y filter on a maxima why dont you just buy a civic instead, cause a maxima deserves the best....not the worst unlike a civic
