Well the link is below but I do have a question for the HKS guys. Does your exaust hit the axle beam? Mine is always hitting the axle beam, let me know what you guys have done to fix this. or is it a falw in the HKS design.

http://www.geocities.com/nismorg/Hks/

As Always, keep refreshing til you get the goods, Geocities has some serious problems.

Mine doesn't hit the axle beam, but I have two problems, one is mine is hitting against Stillen Body kit and soon will melt my rear piece (anyone has solution to this besides cutting it?) and the other one is my exhaust is too Loud for me!

I dont' know how long will i keep this muffler since it's too loud! Anyone wants it?

I don't know man, the hangers on mine must be loose b/c mine bangs into the axle all the time over bumps. as far as the heat goes. can you put a little rubber strip aruond the edge of the body kit so it doesn't hit and make a noise. As far as it being too loud is yours an stick or auto. I think mine was loud when I started, but its either gotten quiet or I'm getting used to it.

PhatGuy, SS is a Y-pipe . whats a STS? I have a FSTB, no RSB (YET)

Mine is Auto, at highway speed it's pretty quiet, but at low RPM, man my car sounds exactly like Mustang GT, lots of drone (bass noise) i guess. as far as the body kit, no I can't put anything in between it, cuz it's like tight between the two tips, my muffler is stiff as hell because besides those three hangers, I have my body kit clamps on sides of the muffler tips!

And about the pipe hitting the axle, kind of weird I was having hard time installing the muffler due to axels at the back(scratched underbody of the car) and the way the pipe on HKS muffler angles down more and thicker than stock.

I would recheck all the hangers(3 of them) and the bolts on the pipe) other than that..i have no idea...

The HKS is the ****. I rode in PI0NEER's max and it sounds awesome. It is a little on the loud side but it matches so well with the rest of the setup. The Cattman and HKS are a perfect combination. When he got on it, it sounded soooo sweet. My GXE automagic doesn't compare. I am planning on waiting and trading in for a 5 speed 2001 with the HKS and Cattman.

Hey PI0NEER, when are we going for a ride again?

Well, HKS rear section is the best looking bolt on muffler for 5th gen max so far, but it's too loud for my taste. Maybe Greddy will change that, but I doubt it, since it comes with smaller resonator than stock system!

So is it true that STillen is quieter than HKS? Anyone?

I haven't heard the HKS in person, so I can't comment. The roar you hear in the mpg is his CAI, not exhaust.

Stillen muffler = decently quiet
Stillen muffler + y pipe = loud enough for the average person

I've heard the Stillen Exhaust and the HKS is louder. at low RPMs and Low speed the Drown is enough that if you are having a conversation, your better half may get upset b/c she can't hear you over the noise but isn't conversation the key to any relationship the more you talk the better

Trust me put the STS and RSB and your car will be so much nicer to drive! The shifting is awesome with the STS.

you have a metal plate screwed to the bumper above the exhaust like the bimmer boys do, that will surely stop the bumper from melting

Digital Camera? What type?

Now those are what I call close-ups. That camera of yours takes some sweet looking pictures but of course the Sherwood Green is extremely photogenic anyway

Would that muffler fit on a 2k1 Anniv. Edition? Seeing as the AE doesn't have the cutout in the bumper. I would like to get something for my car and that exhaust looks the best so far..

Thanks...

Looking good

You think those dual pipes would fit
with the Stillen Kit? Don't want to
melt the rear piece. Have you noticed
a black film resonating on the rear of
your car? I see alot of cars with
exhaust have that.

no man...the rubber won't do anything to protect the bodykit. what you can do is instead of rubber, you can either buy or custom fabricate a heat shield(perhaps you've seen one of these off of a touring cars..they all have an aluminum heat shield on their rear bumper to protect it from exhaust heat.)
for your rear stillen valence...these things are relatively cheap to make and will save your bumper from melting... not to mention, it'll probably make your car look a little better too..

Found a problem with the HKS Exaust, Called HKS and they say the rear section on the 2K maxima is a tight fit and the exaust has to be bolted with a twist to the left so when its fully tightened it moves to the right a bit and stops the hitting. I will try that out tomorrow, hopefully it will work.
