I am in Love

Well i would like to introduce my self.

My name is mike i am new to the Org. Today i picked up a AE 01 majestic blue 5 speed. I was driving a 97 acura cl and decided i needed a nissan.
I have always loved the car, my mother had a 98 SE then traded that in the for AE Majestic blue auto and i always loved driving both car and was sad when she traded that in for the new BMW 530I. I have always wanted the Majestic blue AE 5 speed and finally found one. So far i have only posted questions about coilover systems for the car and everyone has been very helpful. I am a newb so please dont flame me. I will use the search button as much as i can. Any suggestions on a first mod. I was thinking the Boss Chen coils. Thank you again.

Mike

Welcome. Have you tinted the car yet? After a drop that seems like the next best bet. Get a RSB and FSTB to complete the drop.

drop it first if you have the money, if not, clear side markers always set it apart from the rest

I am not a big fan of clear corners on any car, but to each there own. The drop is i think the first thing to come. The i think exo, i already miss my exo from the acura. I ahve listened to the sound clips and narrowed it down, but was wondering what the gains would be of the Greddy Evo 2.

Another option is smoking them. On light colored cars I think this "could" look good. As for exhaust.. its a matter of preference. I would say try and catch up with some other maxs at a local meet so you can hear their setup for yourself.

I'm from cape cod, which means pretty much no matter where your located in RI your really no more than an hour from me. There is a meet coming up in RI. ANd I will prob be having a beach meet on the cape this summer when things warm up some more.

IMO I wouldn't miss a Maxima if it's replacement was a 530i (maybe some of the low end grunt and that's where it ends).

Hope you enjoy your car.

glad you like the maxima. you don't have an EGR so you should have more power than us 2000's do.

As nice as a 530i is it's too heavy for anything other than the 4.4L (545) or 4.7L (550) engine. It's just boring, imo. And if it was the 2004-05 with the 225HP 3.0...yuck.

on a dark car, clear side markers sure do set it apart from the rest.....they set it into the category. Clear corners on light-colored maximas only, please. Dark maximas, smoke the side markers (plus, it's free..)

I envy the fact that the AE maximas already come w/ all the cosmetic goodies that i want to have.... Before you go and buy some upgrades you may not know about a few common problems w/ the 5th gen vq30... the VIAS breaks on about 90% of the cars, Coils arent too good, our MAF's are crap, and brakes are in adequate, so look into those things first.

IMHO i dont like cleared or blacked out rear corners.

Welcome to the org. I'd definately go with tint as your first mod. Then suspension. What's the legal % in RI?

Congrats on the new car and welcome to the .Org. My suggestion is to drop your ride first. Also look into a new intake system. It will help with your gas mileage and add's a better tone to the engine.

Glad to see you got a max.
IMO, engine preformance is the most important. So for a frist mod I would go with an CAI (Cold Air Intake).
