Projectors 00-01

i was wondering if the projector headlights will be a direct fit to the 00-01 maxima? also i was wanting to know if they come with bulbs when you order them?

Another Newb Question

I've been reading a bit about HID & Halogen and the e-bay projector lamps I've been eyeing because they would look 100 times better than my stock 00max scratched and fogged to hell headlamps.

I'm wondering if I'm correct in my assumption about the e-bay projectors. but first a question. I don't have HID kit in my car but plan too in the future. Can I drop these in and still use these projectors, not true HID i know, and later drop a kit and a retrofit in? Basically i wan't to know if I'll have normal high/low beam activity regardless of my non HID status.

A thought. the e-bay projector lamps look like they have a normal halogen fixture H/L?, a projector, and the park and signal fixtures. Does a person w/o HID kit of any kind end up using the halogen fixture? until such time he upgrades with an HID kit to use the projector fixture?

I appreciate any and all help, i'm nieve in this particular matter and i know there are super geniuses on maxima.org.

Thanks.

Don't listen to Sooner or Nmex, buy them, you will love them! Great output and beam pattern...

Actually buy a few sets, you will love them so much, you will want to hand them out for Christmas.

Headlights are a direct fit but like these other people said the light output sucks. and yes you can retrofit them if you would like with real HIDs later on. You pay for what you get

i swear a thread about these stupid ebay projectors comes up every week. if you could only do a search or even click to page 2 of the forum youd find your answer.

and to answer the question about retrofitting, it can be done to anything, just a matter of how good you are.

Alright guys, c'mon be nice. Everyone was new at one point.

SilverMX: These projectors from e-bay are garbage. They may look cool (Not that I think so but to each their own) but the light output it terrible. If you want to get them its your car and your money. But you will be reducing your visibility.

However, if you wanted to get these housings and use them for a retro then that would be your best bet. I haven't done it myself, but from looking at write-ups and stickes (found here on the org) putting in an e46 projector wouldn't be too difficult.

In the end: Yes they come with the bulbs, and you would get normal headlight operation. If you wanted to put HIDs in your car you are better off finding a pair of OE 2k2/2k3 HIDs on the org or on ebay. (watch out for stolen goods) If you do no want those, then a retro fit is your next best option. Save your money and do it once and do it the right way. DO NOT get an aftermarket non-OEM HID kit with rebased bulbs. You will lose output even more and create a ton of glare.

ebay projectors..... If you're gonna get them, you should also get the Turbonator, the Tornado, and LED washer nozzles.

Then you'll have 4 things on your car that are idiotic!

perhaps a sticky should be made about this so that we never have to see a thread like this again, along with the "will a 5.5 gen bumper fit a 5th gen", "can i swap my tails from an 00 max if i have a 2k3", etc, just an idea.

Problem is, if we posted a sticky for all of the repeat ?'s, we would have 400 stickies...

I guess the solution would be to have one sticky titled something like; "Questions you do not want to ask".

Then list all the repeat questions with a link to a thread with answers... Lots of work, who wants it!

Not me...

Far more fun to attack the noobs.

Thanks...I really apreciate your informative response. And not to make myself a complete a*s like some other reactionary responders here, I will give them some credit in reminding me, in a not nice way, of the FAQ's. It was able to find informative stuff on automotive lighting, HID's in particular, but I would still have asked the question. As it's not answered in the FAQ's.

Now i can go hunting for parts that would be better to get, instead of a mistake of the e-bay projectors. Thank you!

This site is becomming very sarcastic at newbie questions... I guess some org member have to remember when they first start modding the max, they needed the opinion of the old timer but time change and people are jumping the gun quickly.

The e-bay projector look nice to some but have a crappy beam pattern, few members have already retro fit some HID in there. Why giving your self all this trouble just buy a set of 2k2 -2k3 HID it's a direct fit but you have to buy a harness and work the wiring diagram.

Everyone says just retro the eBay projectors.

How about a step by step instruction for dummies (with pics) on how to replace the projectors with better ones either e46, tsx or whatever?

I never found that here. Dr. Roy's writing is so unclear I got lost in the first page. Step by step will be better for those of us who never retrofitted projectors before.

You are right, it makes sense if you are familiar with all the stuff he is talkig about.
They should teach a course on this like Retro 101.

I just did a retro on my headlights, still not finished though. I have valeo H7 halogens for now, the output is pretty good. The write up aren't really helpful if your not using the same exact projectors. You kinda have makeup as you go along.

People need to realize this, there arent hardly any "direct bolt on's" you always end up having to modify something.

This is why its called a RETROFIT

Dont buy the stupid headlights, if you want go to walmart and go look at half of the honda's in the parking lot and look at how crappy the output is, they all have the same crappy projectors.
