I have been putting resistors in to fool the ECM on the heater circuit, but to no avail. I have used 3.1, 3.9 and 4.2 ohm. Every time I clear the code, it comes back after the car gets up to temp. WTF? I have the other wires tied into a sim and it works fine. My sensor is gone completely. (check the all motor section) Anybody have any luck with this? My inspection is now out so I need to get this done!! HELP!!!!

 

just buy an 02 simulator or replace the 02 Sensor....my .02

 

In post #1 I stated that I have a sim. Somebody else trying this out?

 

i used this resistor on my car and is currently on sr20den's with no issues of the light reappearing. its 20w--40ohm

 

dont know if this helps, but on my 1.8T, Audi/VW people use the normal 02 sensor, but use spark plug non-foulers over them, and it seems to prevent any 02 codes from being thrown... but since you are in a hurry, you might not want to screw around w/ that at the moment (or have a bung put in if you have an aftermarket exhaust w/o one.)

 

how bout this one, im nitroused, i put in an o2 sim on my rear cat o2 and it cleared my code for like a week now i get codes for heater circuits everywhere. what shall i do?

i saw them and i was areading on them on their site, my question to you is how would you put them in? just slice the heater wires and install? would this be beneficial to do to all 3 o2's or just the one with the sim.

SloppyMax, I have a 50 ohm resistor, but the Service Manual says that the ECM reads between 2.9 and 4.3 ohms IIRC. I guess I'll try the 50 ohm then. This is getting seriously annoying. I'm getting paranoid driving my car around with expired inspection!

 

consider that the problem might not be with the resistor, especially if youve extended your o2 wiring for aftermarket headers

 

Sorry for not giving full info. about my car.
It's a 2K fed spec w/o headers. I do have a y-pipe. The o2 is after cat, and it is throwing the P0141 DTC. I am intermittantly throwing a P0505 (IACV), but that is a whole sep. issue. Currently I have a sim connected to the 12 volt, signal and ground. I have a resistor between the ground and heater going straight to the ECM. I actually just soldered in a 50 ohm res. I'm shooting in the dark now...

 

??? why dont u just buy a new o2 sensor???

 

They are about $50 to $70 depending on where you get them. In my opinion far more worthwhile than d!cking around with the O2 simulator.

 

I was wondering if I go out and buy the O2 sensors, how easy is it to replace them myself? Nissan wants a buttload of $$$ and I figure I could give it a shot.

Any advice on installing them myself?

 

If you have a ramp, an O2 socket or open wrench and petience it should not be that difficult. The issue I had removing my sensor is the screw on the heat shield pro***cting one of the sensors. Istripped one o f them so I took the heat shield (to shows which screw I needed) to Nissan and they just gave me the screws. The O2 sensor I needed cost about 90.00 at Advance Auto.

The one thing that drove me crazy was that the CEL kept coming back on. It turned out that the ECM had to be reprogrammed. Never had a CEL since related to O2 sensor.

 

I bought an o2 sensor, just haven't wired it up yet. I measured 3.6 ohms across the heater circuit (white to white on a universal Bosch sensor).
So why didn't the 3.1 or 3.9 ohm resistor fool the ECM? I reset it and everything. Maybe a reflash is in order?

BTW: Why in the hell would I want to do things the easy way?
