Alarm Beep Mod??

I've done this mod in my 4th gen, add a Radio Shack Piezo sounder & relay to the factory relay that makes your parking lights flash when you lock your doors.
No more watching your car to see if you've locked it.

After reviewing the electrical diagrams in the Nissan service manual this mod will also work on the 5th gen, there is the same relay. One problem, its not by the trunk release solinoid like the 4th gen...

Does anyone know where it is?

I understand what you are asking but you do realize you can have the horn sound to accomplish this, right?

Yeah but I find that a bit much. I like the beep, it sounds similar to a Lexus or BMW, just with a slower beep, beep.

I don't really think this mod is worth the time, but it's up to you.

I've already soldered up the relay & sounder, and it only took 10 minutes, I've already done it on 2 4th gens. I just need to know were the relay is in the car. Once I find it it will take another 5 minutes. I think its worth it.

dude i really wanted to get this done too but i didn't have the knowledge of what to do and stuff haha i really didn't like the honk of the stock horns when i arm the car =/ that's why i bought an aftermarket alarm with a soft chirp siren just so i can have the chirp haha (plus alarm for car is a good thing).

btw does that piezo sound like those camry with the soft beep? i've always wanted that =/ but sorry i dont' know where the relay is tho.

I have a write up on how to wire & what parts to buy PM with an email & I'll send you the pdf files. Just one problem, the how to & pictures are for the 4th gen, and the relay you connect to is in the trunk by the trunk release, its not there on the forth gen.

The wiring diagram is still the same.

I have the service manual too, it shows the relay & wiring but not were it is on the car.

The detail is on EL-272 in the service manual, and the relay is called multi-remote control unit.

I think it would be an interesting find. It sounds like it wouldn't take all that long to accomplish if you can find the relay. Anyway to find it via the "click" you can hear when you keep pressing the unlock button after the doors are unlocked? Might help trace it down.

I'll check myself and report if I find anything.

Thats right, my 4th gen does click just inside the trunk.

I found the click. I opened the doors with all unlocked, "unlocked" them again, and listened for the click. The click sounds like it is coming from a little white box over the gas pedal (at least in mine). There are a few wires plugged into it. I didn't get a chance to see where they go to but that's where the sound seems to come from.

If you can figure out a way to hook this up and make it work, it looks to be a simple mod. I wouldn't mind doing a beep instead of a honk myself.

Keep us posted and good luck!

I would love to see this as well. I loved the chirping sound in my Viper alarm in my Accord.

I was wondering if its possible to integrate an aftermarket alarm to the OEM alarm, and use the OEM remote... that would make for a clean install...

Sorry to bump this up, but I've got the answer if no one else has yet for our cars to have the "beep" as in the Lexus/Toyota models.

If you goto http://www.kptechnologies.com/ they have this mod. and it works for almost every car. I think there is a video also comparing the Lexus beep to this. To me they almost sound the same.

It comes with detailed instructions when you get it. There is also support, pretty easy to install. On a scale of 1 - 5, I consider this a 2. Hope that helps.

I have a siren I added to my stock alarm in my 02 I35. I can't seem to find a good wire to connect the siren to. Currently, I have it wired to the power door lock wire at the security/remote entry module under the dash. I'd like the siren to chirp with the lights, but when I connected it to the parking light relay, the siren chirped when the turn signals were on. I dont like it wired to the door lock wire because it makes the siren more of a whistle sound because power is going throug the lock wire too long. I want short chrips.

Any ideas as to how to wire my siren?

what a double edged sword! veterans here complain about us bringing up threads that can be answered by a search function. and so we do, posting on old threads, bumping them; sadly, you rip on us for this, what exactly should we do????

Does anyone have the part number for the piezo horn that they used from radio shack? My mom has a toyota corolla and the piezo horn doesnt work on hers anymore. I want to replace it. They have about 20 different ones and want to make sure i get the right one.
